🎯 | Year 8s Explore Local Careers at ‘Who Am I?’ Event

Following our recent post where we asked for volunteers, we’re delighted to share the success of last Friday’s ‘Who Am I?’ event! Our Year 8 students took part in an engaging session where they asked thoughtful questions to uncover the roles and job titles of visiting professionals.

It was a fantastic opportunity for students to learn more about careers in the local area, spark curiosity, and start thinking about their own futures. Well done to everyone involved for making it such a valuable and enjoyable experience!

💼 | Just 90 minutes of your time could make a real difference

We’re still looking for a few more volunteers to take part in our ‘Who Am I?’ careers event at Laurus Cheadle Hulme.

You’ll chat with Year 7 students about your working life – but keep your job title under wraps! Students will use your clues to guess your role, helping to open their eyes to the huge range of careers out there.

It’s a simple activity, but meeting people from the world of work can make a lasting impression and help young people start to imagine what their future could look like.

We’re looking for volunteers from all sectors to take part in our interactive ‘Who Am I?’ careers event at Laurus Cheadle Hulme.

Chat to students about your working life — but keep your job title a secret! They’ll use your clues to guess your role, helping to broaden horizons and challenge stereotypes.

📚 | Year 7 Author Visit
We’re looking forward to welcoming author Rebecca Orwin into school this Thursday to speak with Year 7 about her debut novel, ‘The Monsters at the End of the World’.

The talk will take place in Period 2 in the auditorium. Copies of the book are available to purchase via ParentPay, with the opportunity to have them signed on the day. Don’t forget to order in advance if you’d like a signed copy!

💻 | An exciting opportunity for our Year 9 Computer Scientists!

A group of Year 9 students were selected to visit DiSH (the Barclays Digital Security Hub) in Manchester, where they took part in a range of inspiring activities. Students engaged in a hands-on cyber security challenge led by Lancaster University and explored AI through coding robots.

The visit also included insightful talks from Barclays apprentices, who shared valuable advice on the skills and qualities students can start developing now to prepare for the world of work in the future. A fantastic experience for all involved!

🙏 | Thank you to everyone who supported our Year 9 World of Work event!

At the end of November, we were delighted to host our annual Year 9 World of Work event at Laurus Cheadle Hulme. We welcomed 15 fantastic volunteers from a wide range of industries who generously shared their time and experiences, giving students valuable insight into the skills, qualifications and day-to-day realities of working life.

A huge thank you to all our volunteers for helping to inspire and inform our students — this event would not have been possible without you.
