💡 | Quiz an Engineer
Earlier this month, we were proud to host Quiz an Engineer for Year 9 & 10 students from CHHS and LCH.

Students got to hear from inspiring representatives from our local Engineering community, including Old Laureate from CHHS/SF, Emily! After leaving Cheadle Hulme Sixth Form, Emily studied MEng Avionic Systems at the University of Liverpool. She is now a Senior Software and Systems Engineer developing software for robotic and autonomous systems.

What an incredible opportunity for our students! The saying goes 'you can't be what you can't see', and this event allowed us to show them exactly what’s possible. Thank you to all of our volunteers for inspiring us!

🌟 | Inspiring Girls into STEM
Last month, a group of Year 9 students headed to Manchester Science Park to attend the 'Another Way: Inspiring Girls into STEM' event.

It was truly a fascinating day where the girls had the opportunity to meet some inspirational role models and learn about the many pathways within STEM careers.

Two of our students were particularly engaged and received prizes for their enthusiasm and contribution. Well done Ysabella and Maisy!

📚 | Chetham's Library Visit
As part of our week-long celebrations of books and reading in the lead up to World Book Day, a group of students who regularly volunteer in our school library were taken to experience a library of a very different sort.

Chetham's Library in Manchester is the oldest free library in the English speaking world and we were delighted to spend Tuesday morning exploring its treasures. We were privileged to get close to an early copy of Shakespeare's plays and a collection of Chaucer's stories. We explored how language has changed and developed over time and wrote our own versions of dialect poetry which will be added to the library's collections to inform scholars of the future.

📸 | Spanish Exchange 2026
Students from CHHS, CHSF, HGHS and HGSF have taken part in our first Spanish Exchange, building on last year’s successful French Exchange.

Back in November, we welcomed students from our partner school in Talavera de la Reina, a town near Madrid. They joined their exchange partners in lessons and spent time at home with them and their families after school and at the weekend.

This term, our students travelled to Spain to continue the exchange. They took part in lessons at the Spanish school, explored places of interest in and around Talavera and spent evenings and weekends with their partners and families, fully immersed in Spanish culture and language.

The exchange has given our students the chance to form new friendships, experience life in a different country and develop confidence in their Spanish speaking. It has been an unforgettable experience and a wonderful opportunity to connect with peers in another part of the world!

📣 | FINAL CALL – Volunteers Wanted!

Can you help inspire our Year 7 students?

Our fun and fast-paced ‘Who Am I?’ careers event is happening next week – and we’re looking for a few more volunteers to take part!

We’re inviting people from all sectors to answer students’ questions about their working life (without revealing their job title!) while our Year 7s try to guess what you do. It’s always a brilliant morning – full of curiosity, challenge and plenty of lightbulb moments.

If you can spare a few hours, you’ll be helping to break down stereotypes and open young eyes to the huge range of careers available to them. We’d absolutely love to have you involved.

📢 | Call for female engineers!
We're looking for volunteers to support our upcoming event for aspiring young engineers.

This year's 'Quiz an Engineer' event will give students and their parents/carers the chance to find out what life is like working as an engineer.

We're particularly interested in hearing from female engineers to provide diverse perspectives and role models for all attendees.

If you or someone you know may be able to help, please get in touch!
