Yesterday was our Summer Family Picnic and Play!
We had a wonderful afternoon in our Residential Village, where students and their families enjoyed live music, activity stations and even met a few reptilian friends from Inspiring Animal Therapy CIC.
Thank you to Slater and Gordon Lawyers - UK for funding this event and giving helpful information and advice, as well as handing out goodie bags with some amazing portable fans to keep us cool!

College student Stevie is doing fantastic in her work experience placement at Sofology!
Every week, Stevie works with the team to clean and maintain the coffee tables, learn about the different sofas and their features, and ensure sofa tickets and swatch stands are neatly presented.
"Our main focus is upskilling Stevie and giving her valuable workplace and life skills," said Gemma, Store Manager.
"A big part of that is helping her understand how we interact with people in the workplace, how we communicate, work as a team, take responsibility and contribute to the working environment.
"We're learning from Stevie just as much as she's learning from us. I think that’s the bigger aim for all of us collectively: creating an environment where Stevie can learn, develop and gain confidence, while we also develop our own understanding and learn from her experience."
Thank you to the team at Sofology for being so welcoming for Stevie's first few weeks on placement, and we look forward to seeing all her progress in the new academic year!

It's almost been a month since our College Prom!

POV: You're having lots of fun with your friends at CADS!
Our Children's Activities and Disabled Sports club (CADS) runs during the school holidays and weekends, giving disabled children the opportunity to take part in sport, leisure and wellbeing activities designed for them.
This week we've had yoga, drumming, indoor sports, and games on the 3G pitch.

Estates Officer Paula took part in the Morson Salford Triathlon over the weekend, raising over £500 for Seashell!
Paula took on her first triathlon this May in Nantwich, however one of the activities was cut short due to a technicality - giving Paula all the more reason to give it another go this month in Salford.
The Salford event includes a 750m swim, 21k cycle and a 5k run.
"I saw the Salford Triathlon advertised around Seashell. I just thought I’d see how it goes to try and keep up my fitness.”
"I've worked at Seashell for two years this October, I think it's a fabulous organisation and I'd like to give back to support them."
Paula has already signed up to another triathlon next year to fully complete the event and give it her all - well done Paula, your determination is truly inspiring!

Emily and Amelie met at last year's Tri-Seashell event, where they quickly became great friends. The pair decided to compete in this year's event together, all while raising over £1,600 for Seashell!
Both girls had benefited from swimming lessons at Seashell and wanted to give back while giving it their all in the event.
"Being told she's raised so much for Seashell was like giving her a gift, she was so excited," said said Louise, Amelie's mum.
"A fun day out like this for £15 is amazing, we'd come every weekend if we could!"

Tri-Seashell is our inclusive triathlon event for SEND children and young adults in the community, where they can walk/wheel/run, cycle and swim using accessible facilities.
Congratulations to all the participants, who were presented with a special medal and personalised certificate by our mascot Buddy. You should all be so proud!

Our multidisciplinary team don't just support our students - they extend their knowledge to organisations, professionals, families and disabled young people across the country.
We are proud to have trained over 275 organisations, 456 individuals, and 1,752 disabled children and young adults in the community.
We offer a range of training courses, including our PGDip MQ MSI, training the next generation of Qualified Teachers of Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI).
We also deliver clinical therapeutic assessment and intervention in the community, as well as leisure activities such as holiday clubs, swimming, cycling and fitness.

Look where Max and Kaitlin went last month!
Royal College Manchester staff Susie accompanied Max and Kaitlin to the The Coronation Street Experience exhibition, where they could watch old TV clips, visit replicas of of Roy’s Rolls and the Rovers Return, and see loads of props and costumes from the show.
Kaitlin said it was "a dream come true" and came away with a T-shirt from the gift shop. What a fun adventure!
It's always a joy to see how much music resonates with the children and young people at Seashell.
At the end of term we welcomed The Hallé for a full day event, where they performed for our students, staff, families and special guests, ending with a much-loved performance with our school Rock Band.
Music can support students with their multi-sensory needs, emotional regulation, and socialisation. We are so grateful to The Hallé and our funders for making events like this possible.
This event was part of the Alison Wilkinson Hallé in Residence, kindly supported by The Evans Arts Trust, Mabel Evans Trust and The Boris Karfloff Charitable Foundation.
