๐Ÿ… Nursery Sports Day ๐Ÿ…

Our Nursery children had an amazing Sports Day! Despite the warm weather, every child tried their hardest and took part in each activity with enthusiasm and determination.

The children enjoyed a range of events including the egg and spoon race, hopper race and bean bag challenge, showing fantastic perseverance and lots of smiles along the way.

It was wonderful to see so many parents cheering on their children and joining us for the medal ceremony at the end, where every child was celebrated for their efforts.

A fantastic time was had by all!

๐Ÿ’™ Thank a Teacher Day ๐Ÿ’™

Today we want to say a huge thank you to all of the incredible staff at New Horizons. From teachers and teaching assistants to office staff, site staff, lunchtime teams and everyone in between, every member of our team plays a vital role in helping our children learn, grow and thrive.

We would also like to thank our wonderful school community. Throughout the day, Mrs Talbot-Brown had the pleasure of sharing hundreds of kind messages, words of appreciation and heartfelt thanks from parents, carers and children with our staff.

The smiles, laughter and happy tears these messages brought created a day full of joy and reminded us all of the power of kindness and gratitude.

Thank you for helping us celebrate the amazing people who make New Horizons such a special place to be.

๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŒŠ The first story from our brand-new Pools of Thinking has officially launched!

Meet Eden Eel, our character for Questioning and Posing Problems, beautifully designed by Isabella W.

Eden reminds us that great learners are curious learners. They ask questions, explore different possibilities, tackle challenges and aren't afraid to wonder "what if?". By questioning and posing problems, we deepen our understanding and discover new ways of thinking.

A huge congratulations to Isabella for her fantastic design, which is now helping to inspire learners across our school. We can't wait to introduce the rest of our Pools of Thinking characters over the coming weeks!

๐ŸŒŠ Something new is coming to New Horizons... ๐ŸŒŠ

Over the past few months, our School Council have been thinking deeply about what makes a great New Horizons learner. Together, they identified the most important habits, skills and attitudes that help us learn, grow and succeed.

Our talented pupils then took on the challenge of bringing these ideas to life by designing characters to represent each of these learning habits. We are delighted to now launch our brand-new Pools of Thinking!

The winning designs have been transformed into a wonderful story that celebrates how we learn at New Horizons and the habits of mind that help us overcome challenges, think independently and achieve our best.

To recognise their incredible achievement, the winning designers were presented with a very special enamel pin to wear proudly on their ties. ๐Ÿ…

This week, all of our learners have been challenged to reflect on how they can demonstrate the qualities found within our Pools of Thinking and become even stronger New Horizons learners. And the Pools of Thinking are:

- Persisting
- Questioning and Posing Problems
- Applying Past Knowledge to New Situations
- Listening with Understanding and Empathy
- Thinking Interdependently
- Taking Responsible Risks

A huge congratulations to our winning designers and to our School Council for helping shape this exciting new chapter in our school's learning journey.

The Big Future survey - have your say! 11/06/2026

๐Ÿ“ข Have Your Say! ๐Ÿ“ข

We are encouraging our children and young people to take part in The Big Ambition survey from the Children's Commissioner for England.

This is a fantastic opportunity for children and young people to share their views, experiences and hopes for the future. The survey will help ensure that their voices are heard and represented in national decision-making.

We would love as many of our pupils as possible to take part and help shape the future for children and young people across the country.

You can complete the survey here:

https://www.childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/thebigfuture

Every voice matters. Every opinion counts. Let's make sure our children are heard.

The Big Future survey - have your say! Please take a few minutes to take our survey.

A reminder again for our year 5 parents

Photos from New Horizons Children's Academy's post 05/06/2026

Year 6 have been putting their scientific thinking to the test as they investigated how light travels.

Through practical experiments and observations, the children explored how light moves in straight lines and how it enables us to see objects. They worked collaboratively to make predictions, test ideas and draw conclusions from their findings.

It was fantastic to see such curiosity, teamwork and enthusiasm for learning in action!
