When I started this business in 2016, I didn't even know that being "a panelist" was a thing. Yet there I was yesterday, a panelist at an International Women's Day event, for the Institute of Directors, speaking to a packed room, alongside some proper business people!
Our panel were quizzed about women and structures in business, systems, barriers to influence, wellbeing and customer service.
It's always fascinating to observe the room as you speak and see what grabs them. And one thing that raised some eyebrows, was my assertion that women do on average, around 9 weeks more unpaid activities a year, than men do.
⌚️ 54 mins a day - not that much? No biggy!
⏰️ 378 mins a week
⏲️ 19719 mins a year
🕰 328.65 HOURS a year (19719/60)
👩💻 36.4 hours = the ave FT working week
📅 9.03 the EXTRA WEEKS of unpaid work undertaken by women (328.65 hrs extra done/36.4 working wk) per year.
The maths must be wrong. How could anyone fit all this extra in? Well they can and they do because they believe they have to ... if nobody else will.
Unpaid work activities include housework, caring for others and volunteering. Remember this is not the total number of unpaid work activities that women do, it's just the number in excess of what the average man does.
The TOTAL unpaid work women do a day is actually 3hrs 37 mins per day. Or 36.3 working WEEKS a year. Nooo! That really can't be right. And yet it really is. You do the maths. And then let it settle. Over half a full-time-equivalent job a year. Free. On top of the actual paid employment.
So, why do women struggle to impact systems, structures, policies, customer service and wellbeing? There are so many reasons. But we could start here. Unfortunately, unless someone else is going to roll up their sleeves and share the load though ... anyone? 🤔
For every woman wondering why they struggle - this. For every man wondering how he can help - this also.
Imagine what impact women could have on structures, systems, policies, customer service, their own and other's wellbeing, and maybe even career progression, with an extra 9 working weeks a year applied to their actual work, with the removal of the burden of this extra physical and emotional, invisible labour.
It's a privelege to be given a platform to talk about these issues and many more. Until we can measure it, name it, be specific, it's too easy to dismiss, to consider it whinging or nagging. Someone commented that it's hard to ask for help. If you're in a committed relationship, I'd suggest you aren't asking for help, you're asking for fair and equitable access to your time, to have better access to opportunities like your partner. For people with nobody to share caring loads with, it's much harder. But just know that struggle is real and not unique to you, can help.
As for me, I wonder what I'll be doing in 10 years time that I don't already know is a thing. Can't wait to find out! But hopefully I'll still be loving it as much.

Despite attempting to rebrand Wellbeing Training Solutions in a seamless and elegant way, it seems Facebook had other plans and decided to broadcast every little change I've made to this page over recent days, against my will.
But finally, I am really pleased to confirm that Wellbeing Training Solution has rebranded and is now Performance People Training Solutions.
Same me. Same love for the work. Just a name and look that more accurately reflect the breadth and depth of the areas I develop and deliver on, and what so many of you have experienced already in the training room over the years: how we think, how we relate to each other, and how we lead. The marginal gains. The honest conversations. The stretch that doesn’t strain. The learning that actually transfers into life, well beyond the training room.
The website is still in development (it's not, it's actually more than ready, I'm just being polite rather than blaming a certain hosting platform that has caused untold problems!) but it will be ready soon. And there's a brand new and very extensive course catalogue ready to fly into your inbox if you want to take a look.
As always, I’m so grateful to be doing work I care about, with people who care about it too. To everyone who has supported this work, with a like or a share, attended a session, trusted the process, shared openly, recommended me, or brought me into your organisation – thank you!

Late to the party today but it's national love your pet day ... well obviously I'm going to post Wilma looking lovingly at me! Even though I'm scruffy and soggy and she's putting those eyes on to get a treat.
Regardless, I do love this daft mutt 🥰😍 And I'm inclined to believe she loves me too, not just the food I provide 🤷🏻♀️ She's my most constant work colleague and the most demanding and amenable simultaneously!
What pet are you loving today?

😤 Don't you just hate it when someone steals your work look and wears it so much better than you did?
👠 First it was Rod Stewart stealing my cerise suit. Now it's the stunning Johannes Radebe stealing my pink one, on The Graham Norton Show last weekend. And he did it in heels, when I can only manage trainers! nobody likes a show-off!
🙏 Boys, leave me something, please!
And if you missed Rod's earlier rip-off of, take a look in the comments... you're welcome!

Three days of training now completed for this week, and this lovely bunch were willing to show off their certificates for a little photo opp too!
I've been spending a lot of time working on, rather than in, the business lately. That's definitely not my preferred balance. So to get back to a good solid block of face-to-face training this week was so welcome. When it's with such engaged and generous participants, there really is nothing better.
Their evaluations were the final ingredient I needed to be able to conclude a job well done:
💡 "This trainer is definitely the most engaging - always happy to answer questions and gives lots of extra useful information."
💡 "This set my expectations very high for future training."
💡 "Thank you for such an informative few days! Much appreciated."
💡 "I had a great day and really enjoyed learning lots of new facts."
💡 "Lovely training."
I'm already looking forward to the next session ... but I'll give my feet a little rest first!

✨️I've been AWOL for a little while, but all for good reason. Things have been busy for lots of reasons and one is that I've been working on some changes for Wellbeing Training Solutions. After a long slog, I'm delighted to confirm that a rebrand is imminent.
👩🏫 There's never been any doubt in my mind about what I do, how I do it and who I'm to serve. But I'm very conscious that over the years, what I do has evolved, broadened, deepened and refined, all at the same time. On reflection, my brand has not kept pace with the scale and scope of change in my work, or with the considerable growth of my offer.
🏁 Having finally gotten the rebrand over the finish line, I'm so glad I forced myself to bite the bullet. As it transpired, there were very few decisions of substance to be made because the purpose, ethos and values are all unchanged. I simply needed to present the existing reality with greater clarity and precision. And that will enable me to do the very things I love, and deliver them with impact, to an even wider audience.
🤗 I'm so looking forward to sharing the full picture very soon and I hope to have you on the journey with me 🙏

If you constantly find you feel like you're chasing your tail, like you never get anything done, it might be worth remembering this ...
