Yesterday was ‘Thank a teacher’ day. Some of our year 6 children showed their appreciation for adults at Oaklands by delivering them special messages. Thank you to all the adults that help us in our school community! You are all amazing!

🌟 🌟 🌟 As you may remember, Mrs Fisher and Kingfisher class were visited in March 2025 by the Primary Science teaching trust. After a rigorous observation and interview, Mrs Fisher was awarded the Primary Science Teacher of the year award! We were delighted to support her at the awards ceremony this evening in Birmingham and want to share below the kind words about her impact at Oaklands. Well done Mrs Fisher!!! We are very proud of you!!!

“Emily’s dedication to collaboration and teamwork is evident in everything she does. She regularly provides professional development for teachers and learning support assistants, ensuring that the whole school community is confident in delivering engaging science learning.
Emily’s commitment to raising outcomes for children is exceptional. She encourages every child to see themselves as a scientist. During our observation, Emily’s lesson focused on the big question: What animals live in our school? The children made excellent use of their observation skills throughout, using identification sheets to spot a variety of species in the woodland area.
Emily made all the children feel like scientists during the lesson, fostering curiosity and encouraging them to ask questions for further inquiry. The children came away with a deeper understanding of the richness of their school environment, as well as an increased interest in and respect for other living things.
So, congratulations, Emily.”
