Congratulations to our Academy Governing Board Chair Richard Holdsworth in receiving a 'Lifetime Achievement Award' in recognition of his 10 years' service as a Governor and Vice Chair Lynda Metcalfe receiving an award for 'Governor of the Year 2025-26! ✨

Headteacher Olly Owen commented, 'We are incredibly grateful to Richard and Lynda for their commitment and dedication to our school and the Trust. Governors play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of the school and supporting leaders in delivering the best possible outcomes for our students. These awards are a fitting recognition of their contribution and are very well deserved.'

On Wednesday, eight Year 12 students had the opportunity to visit Grain LNG, to take part in a day of learning about the importance of the site for the UK’s energy security, careers in the sector and how the recruitment process works.

Upon arrival, they were immersed into some networking activities with other schools. They also got to hear about the range of career pathways including advanced apprenticeships and graduate schemes. This was followed up with a Q&A panel with a range of apprentices who worked at LNG Grain.

After lunch, a site tour unveiled the strict security measures and how the liquid gas is imported from the large ships and moved, stored and eventually piped into the UK’s national gas network. The site can store up to 1.2 million cubic metres of gas in its liquid form, condensed 600 times more than its gas form.

The day was finished off with a mock assessment centre, including team challenges and the opportunity to present their work to a panel of invigilators ⭐

We are incredibly proud to announce that a group of our talented students from The Victory Academy have made it through to the FINAL of a national song competition with their very own original song, “Lost and Found”!

They have worked incredibly hard to write, rehearse and perform their song, and now they want to bring the title home to The Victory Academy — but they need YOU to help make that happen!

Do you know a Black person who has made a positive impact on your school, town, or local area?

We invite students to research and celebrate the life and achievements of a local Black individual whose actions have helped improve their community and inspired others.

📝 Tell us their story in 500 words.

Your entry should:

Focus on a Black person from your local community.
Explain how they made a difference.
Highlight their achievements and lasting impact.
Be no more than 500 words.

To celebrate National Poetry Day, we're inviting students in Years 7-13 to take part in our Poetry Slam House Competition on Thursday 15th October.

Choose a poem you love (or write your own!), learn it, perform it, and help your House earn glory! 🌟
