🚗🧽 Tuff Tray Car Wash 🫧
We transformed our tuff tray into a car wash! Using warm soapy water, sponges and drying cloths, the children carefully washed, rinsed and dried the toy cars.

This simple activity offered so many valuable learning opportunities:
✨ Strengthening fine motor skills and hand muscles through squeezing sponges and wiping the cars.
✨ Developing hand eye coordination and control.
✨ Encouraging imaginative and role play as the children recreated real-life experiences.
✨ Introducing early mathematical language such as full, empty, wet, dry, clean and dirty.
✨ Supporting communication and language through conversations, asking questions and describing what they were doing.
✨ Promoting independence, turn taking and sharing as the children worked together.

Learning through play is at the heart of everything we do, and the car wash was a wonderful example of how everyday activities can support children’s development while having lots of fun! 💙

We spent one of our mornings last week watching the planes take off at Rochester Airport! ✈️💙

The children were full of wonder as we stood by the fence, eagerly waiting for each plane to take off. There were lots of “wow” moments as the engines roared and the planes lifted up into the sky! ✈️

We were also lucky enough to see a gyrocopter take off, which was a very exciting sight! The children were fascinated by how different it looked from the planes we had been watching and loved watching it take to the sky 🚁

We chatted about where the planes might be going, what pilots do, and how planes are able to stay up in the air. The children loved pointing out the different colours and sizes, and even practised counting how many planes they could spot!

Trips like these are such a lovely way to spark curiosity and imagination, while supporting communication and language, encouraging questioning and conversation, and helping the children develop their understanding of the world around them 🌍✨

Today we had so much fun making our own butter! 🧈

We poured double cream into a container, put the music on, and got to work dancing, shaking, wiggling, and moving until the cream magically turned into butter! The children loved watching the transformation and had lots of laughs while working together to make it happen.

Once our butter was ready, we spread it onto fresh bread and enjoyed it together as a delicious snack. A fantastic hands on activity that combined science, physical activity, teamwork, and a very tasty reward!

Photo’s of the after result!💛🍞

What a fantastic day we had at the little zoo! 🐾💚

Today was filled with adventure, curiosity and lots of smiles as we explored the zoo together. We enjoyed spotting a wide variety of animals, watching them in their habitats and waving to the ones who came over to say hello.

The walk through enclosures were a real favourite, giving the children the chance to observe the animals up close. There were plenty of giggles watching the bats hanging upside down while they were eating, and lots of excitement each time we discovered a new animal🥰

Throughout the day we talked about the different animals we saw, where they live, what they eat and how they move. The children asked some fantastic questions, compared the animals sizes and features, counted what they could see and chatted about how we can care for and respect wildlife.

Trips like these provide wonderful opportunities to develop communication and language skills, encourage curiosity, build confidence and support children’s understanding of the world through real life experiences. 🤍

🏖️🌊 Beach Day Fun 🌊🏖️

We had lots of fun collecting shells and spotting boats and ships out at sea. The children enjoyed counting them and comparing their sizes, talking about which were big and which were small.

These simple activities help develop counting skills, language and communication, observation skills, and understanding of the world around us, all while having lots of fun in the fresh air! 🐚⛵😊

Today’s tuff tray activity was a “Spaghetti Bug Hunt” 🐛🍝

The children explored cooked spaghetti filled with toy bugs and used tweezers to carefully rescue them and sort them into bowls.

This activity was great for:
✨ Fine motor skills
✨ Pincher grip development
✨ Hand-eye coordination
✨ Sensory exploration
✨ Counting and sorting

The children loved talking about the squishy spaghetti and finding all the hidden creepy crawlies! 🕷️🐞

Out on one of our adventures we were lucky enough to spot some baby ducklings 🐥💛

It led to lots of lovely conversations about spring, new life, and the world around us. We also talked about how to be gentle and respectful when watching animals in their natural environment.

We love learning through real experiences. By getting outdoors, exploring, and following the children’s interests 🌿
