Dangerous Viral Trend Involving Squishy / NeeDoh Toys

Parents and carers are being urged to speak with children about a dangerous online trend encouraging young people to heat or microwave sensory “squishy” toys.

⚠️ Reports shared by the BBC and safeguarding organisations warn that microwaving these toys can cause them to:

❌ Explode without warning
❌ Release boiling hot gel or liquid
❌ Cause serious burns and permanent scarring

Some children have reportedly required hospital treatment after attempting the trend seen on social media.

🧸 Toys affected may include:
• NeeDoh stress toys
• Squishies
• Gel-filled sensory toys
• Similar stretchy or foam products

👨‍👩‍👧 Please remind children:
✅ Never place toys in a microwave
✅ Do not copy online challenges or “viral hacks”
✅ Tell an adult if they see dangerous trends online

📱 Parents are encouraged to monitor online content and continue open conversations around online safety and peer pressure.
