We're Hiring! After-School Club Coaches 🎭🤸‍♀️

Join the team at Chard Prep School!

We're expanding our exciting after-school provision and are looking for two enthusiastic coaches to join our team:

🤸‍♀️ Gymnastics Coach – to help develop our growing gymnastics club and prepare pupils for upcoming competitions.

🎭 Drama/Musical Theatre Coach – to inspire children through drama, acting, singing and performance in a fun and engaging after-school club.

📍 Location: Chard Prep School, Chard, Somerset
🕒 Hours: Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays | 3:30pm–4:30pm | Term Time Only (days to be discussed)
💷 Pay: £50 per hour
What we're looking for:
⭐ Experience in gymnastics or drama/musical theatre (depending on the role)
⭐ A passion for working with primary-aged children
⭐ Excellent communication and organisational skills
⭐ A reliable, enthusiastic and professional approach
⭐ An Enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful applicant, in line with our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

What we offer:

As we say farewell to our wonderful Year 6 pupils and celebrate another memorable Prize Giving, we couldn't be prouder of every one of our pupils. Their hard work, determination and achievements – academically, in sport and in the creative arts – have been truly outstanding and it has been a joy to celebrate their successes together.
A huge thank you to our amazing Friends of Chard Prep School for all their hard work in helping to prepare for the event and making the afternoon such a success. We are also incredibly grateful to everyone who donated flowers and to Warren's Fruit Farm for their generous donation of delicious strawberries, which were enjoyed by all.
A special thank you also goes to our talented Chef Steve, who prepared beautiful homemade cream teas, and to everyone who joined us for a glass of Prosecco as we celebrated the end of another fantastic school year.
Finally, thank you to our pupils, parents, staff and the wider Chard Prep School community for making our school such a special place. Your encouragement, generosity and support are at the heart of everything we do.
To our Year 6 leavers, we wish you every success and happiness as you begin the next exciting chapter of your educational journey. You will always be part of the Chard Prep family and we look forward to seeing all that you achieve in the years ahead.

🎨 Our Reception children had a wonderful time exploring colour through a fun and creative sensory activity this week!

As they stepped across the paper, the children experimented with mixing colours to create new ones, watching in delight as the artwork transformed with every footprint. From vibrant blues and yellows becoming greens to an ever-changing rainbow of patterns, there was plenty of excitement and discovery along the way.

Following the Swimming Competition this March, where more than 4,000 swimmers competed for a place in the summer finals, we are incredibly proud of the determination, commitment and sportsmanship shown by all of our pupils.

We are especially thrilled to share that Year 6 pupil Eryk has qualified for the summer finals, which take place this weekend at the London Olympics Aquatic Centre in Stratford, London— an outstanding achievement! We will all be cheering him on and wishing him every success. 🌟

As a small independent school, with class sizes capped at just 12 pupils, we believe big ambitions matter. Competing alongside much larger schools is something we embrace, and we are immensely proud to be part of the IAPS community and to perform so strongly in such high-level competition.

At Chard Prep, sport plays a vital role in developing confidence, resilience and a pursuit of excellence, helping pupils thrive both academically and athletically. Opportunities such as IAPS and other national competitions continue to challenge and inspire our young athletes to achieve their very best.

At Chard Prep School, learning doesn’t stop when the school day ends. From Year 3 onwards, our residential trips give children the chance to build confidence, independence and resilience, all while creating unforgettable memories with their friends.

Our Year 5 and 6 pupils are currently having the most incredible adventure on the Isle of Wight! From thrilling outdoor challenges to teamwork activities, they have been fully embracing every opportunity, including:

Abseiling
Keelboat sailing
Zip wire
Sensory trails
Blindfolded “Mission Impossible” tasks
Dragon boat racing

These trips are such a special part of life at Chard Prep. They encourage children to try new things, step beyond their comfort zones, support one another and discover just how capable they really are.

We are so proud of the courage, kindness and teamwork our pupils have shown throughout the week — and judging by the smiles, they are having an absolutely fantastic time too!

At Chard Prep, we are incredibly proud to have our very own chef, Steve, leading our kitchen. Trained to Michelin standards in France, Chef Steve brings exceptional skill, passion, and care to every meal he prepares.
We know that every child is different when it comes to food. Whether it’s allergies (dairy, gluten, eggs, nuts), intolerances, or even anxieties around textures or colours, Chef Steve takes the time to talk with each child and ensure they feel comfortable and confident at mealtimes. There is always an option available – because feeling happy around food matters.

We provide hot meals every day, with fresh vegetables cooked in a way that is both nutritious and full of flavour.
🍴 Flexibility & Care
Changed your mind about lunch? No problem. If a child doesn’t like what they’ve ordered, Chef Steve will happily prepare an alternative. At Chard Prep, no child goes home hungry.
