▪The Governing Body of Chapel en le Frith C of E VC Primary School has a vacancy for a parent governor▪
The Governing Body works as a team to provide support, challenge and influencing strategies. We are hoping that parents/carers will nominate themselves for this position and help us by contributing ideas and influencing decision making.
The Governing Body is made up of parents, teachers and other members of the community. The Governing Body meets 6 times per year (plus committee meetings) to support the work of the school, and together with the Headteacher is responsible for making sure that the school provides the best outcomes for pupils.
▫What skills do I need?▫
The National Governors’ Association identifies the following essential skills for all governors:
● Commitment to improving education for all pupils
● Ability to work in a professional manner as part of a team and take collective responsibility for decisions
● Willingness to learn
● Commitment to the school’s vision and ethos
● Basic literacy and numeracy and IT skills
▫How much time will it take? ▫
As a parent governor at Chapel-en-le-Frith Primary School, you will be expected to attend meetings for the full governing body (currently 6 per year) and, if applicable, committee meetings.
You will also be expected to be able to come into school to perform monitoring visits as required - probably once or twice a term depending on your role within the governing body. This is an important part of our work as governors and requires governors to visit the school during school hours.
If you would like to become a Governor, please collect an application pack from the school office, or text / send a message via Class Dojo and we’ll send a pack home with your child.
❕The closing date for self-nominations for parent governor is 12 noon on Tuesday 11th October 2022❕
