The children this week have been investigating Autumn. We have been talking about the changing season, colours of leaves, pumpkins, and harvest time. The children very kindly collected for Harvest festival and donated all their proceeds to the Methodist Church.

The children have settled well these past two weeks. We have enjoyed the good weather with water play, large equipment, bikes and of course the mud kitchen. On the really wet days the children have investigated all the continuous provision trolleys.

This week the children were making their lunch in the home corner, lots of interesting combinations. Next week they will be making sandwiches for snack time.
On the malleable table the children investigated cornflour and water with rice added for texture.
The small world area was set up with roads, houses and people for conversations on where we live, who helps us and keeping safe in cars and walking along roads.

Wet play has been enjoyed all last week and this week with the children, this has helped to keep everyone cool. There has been measuring, pouring and the occasional wetting each other, plenty of language used.
We have caterpillars here and the children have enjoyed watching them grow and now cocooned, watch this space for butterflies.

The sun is out so the children have been outside. They have been risk taking using the large climbing/balancing equipment, plenty of water play, they even built a car wash out of tubing.
A member of staff brought in some eggs, the children saw inside the egg shell before and after they were cooked, this gave us plenty of conversation.

The children were bug hunting inside and out, plenty of worms found to scare the teachers. Large equipment was also popular.
We have been talking, roll playing being Kings and Queens and having tea parties for the Kings coronation.

After the rain the children investigated the puddle in the builders tray. A lot of language was used to describe what the animals and dinosaurs were doing.
