Wow!!! What an amazing response to our Cawston Primary Academy Windrush Garden! We won Gold from the judges and found out this morning we won 'People's Choice' (voted by the public) and BBC Radio Norfolk's Showstopper Award!

We're so thrilled with all the positive feedback and comments from everyone, and wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone involved: all the children, teachers/staff, parents/carers, Scrapbox - Norfolk, Edgefield nurseries

We hoped our garden would be a space that felt positive, uplifting and celebratory; a garden that honoured the resilience and contributions of the Windrush Generation while inspiring people to embrace inclusion and diversity in our multicultural society today...and I think it's fair to say it's done that, with bells on! 💚

We also hope it's inspired young (and older) people out there to connect with Nature, get growing, be creative and that anything is possible if you work hard and pull together as a team!

💚We have finished our Windrush Garden for this year's Norfolk School Garden competition (despite the sweltering heat) and are ready for judging tomorrow!💚

We're so very proud of our garden and all the amazing hard work the children have put into it, it really is an incredible school-wide team effort.

Norfolk Show week is here!
We're so excited about our school garden and showcasing it to you all!
Half our core garden leaders made an excellent start yesterday and the rest will finish our garden off today. We're thrilled with our Windrush Garden, inspired by Floella Benjamin's book 'Coming to England'.

💚1 week to go!!!💚
💚 Royal Norfolk Show School Garden Update:
We've been working hard getting all the elements of our garden finished and ready for next week when we'll be installing it all on site.
💚Today the older Garden Leaders made some fantastic flying fish sculptures from recycling and then they all checked on the plants which have been growing well. We even have a resident frog keeping the slugs at bay 🐸

💚Royal Norfolk Show School Garden Update:

Poplar Class (Yr R/1) have done a fabulous job is decorating our peg people crowd for our Empire Windrush boat.

They carefully painted them and then chose colourful fabrics as clothes, and added some wonderful hairstyles and (mostly) happy faces...I think a couple have sea sickness so aren't so smiley!

Georgie also shared her incredible 'Floella the Mermaid' with the class and explained how she had used her mum's sewing machine and added all the little special touches to her beautiful focal piece.

Only 2 weeks to go until Show week so we're finishing off the last few bits and almost ready to install our garden.

Royal Norfolk Show School Garden update:
Oak class (yr1-2) had a great time decorating the picket fence panels we are using at the front of our garden. We talked about what sort of things they see in their own gardens for inspiration and came up with some wonderful suggestions including ladybirds, foxes, rainbows and flowers.
Only 3 weeks until Show Day! Getting super excited to showcase all of Cawston Primary's amazing work we've done over the past few weeks 💚
