We’ve have some very exciting new visitors 🐸. As part of our learning about the life cycle of a frog, we are been lucky enough to observe frogspawn and tadpoles as they grow and develop into frogs. This hands-on experience will provide a wonderful opportunity for the children to explore change and growth in a real-life context.
This activity will support:
• Communication and Language – The children have been discussing what they can see, asking questions, and learning new vocabulary such as “frogspawn,” “tadpole,” ect
• Physical Development – Fine motor skills will be encouraged through careful handling (where appropriate), drawing, and mark-making linked to their observations.
• Personal, Social and Emotional Development – The children are learning to care for living creatures, showing patience, responsibility, and respect for nature.
• Literacy – We have been reading stories and non-fiction books about frogs and their life cycle, I will encouraging the children to draw and talk about what they have seen.
• Mathematics – The children can counting tadpoles, comparing sizes, and observing changes over time.
• Understanding the World – This is a key focus, as the children explore life cycles, habitats, and the natural world through first-hand experience.
• Expressive Arts and Design – The children can creatively representing what they observe through drawings, painting, and imaginative play.
This will be a fantastic learning experience, sparking curiosity, excitement, and a deeper understanding of the natural world.
