We are very much looking forward to welcoming our pupils back this Thursday for the start of a brand new school year! There will be lots to catch up on! There will be no school buses or school dinners this week but these will resume next Tuesday 1st September.

We would like you to meet Snowflake our new equine therapy pony who will be coming to our school each week after the holidays to work with some pupils. He paid a visit to meet us today and to see where he will be working and he didn't want to leave!

Some important info for the annual Smartni summer scheme.

✨️Some parents asking about a confirmation email. Don't worry, just bring your child along tomorrow and Wednesday. We made a bit of a pigs ear of the application forms this year so my apologies for that‼️

✨️What to wear? If you could send wee raincoats with the children tomorrow and Wednesday that would be great as weather forecast is a bit unpredictable. Also instead of shorts or skirts, can you have the children wear trousers or leggings or similar. And trainers instead of sandals if possible.👖👕👟

✨️ Send a small snack and a drink🍫🍶

✨️ The camp will go ahead even if it is raining. We have loads of games etc indoors if its very wet☔️🌤

We are absolutely thrilled to share some fantastic news about two of our amazing P7 boys!
A huge congratulations to Ben and Dan, who have both been selected to take part in very special events at Croke Park.
This Sunday, Ben will play at half-time during the All-Ireland Hurling Semi-Final between Clare and Limerick — an unforgettable experience and a moment to treasure!
And the excitement doesn’t stop there…
Dan has been selected to play at half-time during the All-Ireland Football Final — an incredible honour and a truly memorable occasion!
To be chosen to take part in events of this scale in Croke Park is a huge achievement, and we are so incredibly proud of both boys. Their commitment, skill and love for their sport have brought them to this amazing opportunity, and they represent our school with such pride.
At St. Mary’s, where “every child matters”, we love celebrating the success of our pupils, and this is a moment of real joy for our entire school community. Ben and Dan have been fantastic role models, and we know they will enjoy every second of this special experience. Well done boys!

Huge congratulations to our P5 pupil who placed in the Castlewellan Peace Maze 25th Anniversary Competition and won a beautiful book for herself and £100 for the school by writing a poem about her favourite place! We are so proud.

P6 held their own Masterchef competition today and Mrs McNally and Mrs Lavery had the difficult task of choosing a winner for best starter, best main course and best dessert 🍨 It was a treat and all the children designed their own menu, brought in the food and cooked it! Just amazing!

This afternoon we had a beautiful Leavers' Assembly to celebrate our wonderful children who are now ready to go to their new schools. We are incredibly proud of every single child and wish them every success. We will miss them all very much!
