Just a reminder for those who have not informed us why your child is not in school today, we will be coming out to your home complete safe and well checks shortly.

Also, any child who has been absent for 3 days (even if a reason has been provided) will also be visited in line with the protocols and guidance schools have to follow.

Good Morning, just a reminder that school is open this week - our attendance for today is very low. If you have not already, please inform school if your child is absent today and the reason why. Thank you.

Please can we politely remind residents on Stansfield Drive that our school grounds should not be used for playing on after school for safety reasons.

We are really pleased to see children out playing together and not sat on tablets etc. However, we would ask that the Memorial Garden at the front of school is not used for games of football etc.

We had some visitors in school today for our Assembly! Rugby League players, Quentin Laulu-Togaga'e and Suaia Matagi came in to start their 5 week 'Talk Your Walk' programme with our children and staff, and impressed us all with the Samoan Haka. We are all very excited to continue working with them over the rest of the term.

Good morning,

I just wanted to say thank you for the support in the change of routine at the start of the day; I know it can be tricky when things change, but please share any concerns or ask any questions to staff outside in a morning and somebody will be able to help. The giant puddle did not help this morning! But, everybody would have still had to walk through it whether we had lined up or not. Mr Norris is now on with sorting the grate which seems to be blocked.

To safeguard all of our pupils, it is much better to have as many external doors shut as possible once the children have gone through the doors. Previously all of the doors were open for at least 15 minutes, which means children are up and down to the cloakroom, and toilets, and the doors are having to be constantly supervised as well as letting cold air in. This way, once the children are inside, staff can do the register, and sort toast out for all of the children without having to worry about the doors being open. This does mean that if you miss your line going into school, the door will be shut behind the last child and you will then have to use the middle door where Mrs Rowett, Mrs Laird and other staff members are based. They will then be able to go straight to their classroom using the internal doors.

Children are not recorded as late until 8:45.

To make things easier, if parents could step back away from the line when the children start to come inside, this will mean that staff can see who is in the line, and who the last child is. This morning, we had more staff out as some parents were concerned yesterday, this will continue every day. Please do not crowd the top of the steps, as this makes it really hard to get into school. Also, some parents have concerns about not seeing their children go into school, so from tomorrow there will be an adult on each external gate so that you can be sure that any children will not be able to leave the playground.

If your child has SEND needs, and struggles to come into school, or finds it difficult to manage change, please let one of us know and there are always alternative arrangements that can be made.

Although it might have seemed a little bit chaotic outside, all of the classroom doors were shut by 8:34 this morning which is amazing, and staff have shared how much more settled they have all been once in the classroom.

Thank you for your ongoing support, it is very much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Alex Webb
