When practical maths turns into edible maths! Year 1 have been investigation fractions so we just had to show that using jam sandwiches! Whole, half, quarter and a tasty treat at the end! 😋

At ABPS we follow a handwriting scheme called Kinetic Letters. It focuses on building core body and finger strength, mastering a comfortable pencil grip, and learning automatic letter formation.

The Core Concepts:

Physical Development: Writing is treated as a fine finger operation requiring strong core body, shoulder, and arm strength.

Pencil Hold: Children are taught to use a comfortable, tripodal grip.

Automaticity: The scheme minimizes letter movement to build fast, fluent writing that flows automatically without conscious effort.

Thinking back to all the amazing trips ABPS ran this past year… Year 2 had a fabulous time at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park! 🐒🐯 We saw may different animals and learnt so much about Polar Bears!🐻‍❄️
Did you know: Polar bears are super sniffers! They have an incredible sense of smell - they can smell a seal hiding under the snow from miles away!
