🧪🎈 Science fun! 🎈🧪

Today we had a blast exploring the magic of vinegar and bicarbonate of soda! The children made their very own balloon experiment and watched in amazement as the reaction produced carbon dioxide gas — enough to inflate the balloons without blowing into them! 🤩

We made predictions, observed the fizzing reaction and watched our balloons slowly grow. We then took our science fun a step further and experimented with static electricity!

⚡️🎈 By rubbing the balloons through their hair, we discovered that the balloon can pick up a static charge, making the hair stand up and stick to the balloon. There were lots of giggles as we tested it out! 😂

A fun-filled afternoon of fizzing, floating, experimenting and discovering how science works all around us! 🔬✨

We hope everyone had a lovely summer and enjoyed making lots of memories together.
We are looking forward to another fun-filled, child-led year at scruffs.

We would also like to welcome our new starts to Scruffs.

This term we are looking forward to learning all about jungle and safari animals, as well as lots of new science experiments and experiences. We will continue to follow our child-led learning and learning throught curiosity both indoors and outdoors.

As the Scottish weather can change very quickly could we please ask that your child has suitable clothing with them and a spare change of clothes.

🌸🪸☀️ Sun Safety Reminder ☀️🪸🌸

As we enjoy the warmer weather, please remember to help us keep all children safe in the sun.

We kindly ask that:
🧴 Children arrive wearing sun cream and bring some to top up throughout the day.

👒 Every child brings sun hat and appropriate clothing

Staff will encourage children to play safely in shaded areas and enjoy outdoor activities responsibly.

What a busy day🐌🕷🪲

This morning we took a trip down to Balcary beach and had lots of fun looking for shells, bugs and treasure.

After lunch we went a walk over to link park to have a look for minibeasts. The children all had a great day 😀

AS, iv got lots of treasure
MS, I found a crab
LM, had a bee in her hood

We are hoping for some nice weather week for some more adventures exploring out local environment

Yesterday we had a lovely visit from Bev, who kindly brought her pet rabbit Noodles into nursery for the children to see. They were all super excited to meet Noodles, hold her and learn all about how to care for them.

AS-wow she's heavy

LM-what dose she eat?
OA-shes really fluffy

Massive thank you to Bev for taking time to bring Noodles in for a visit and for the children's chocolate eggs!
