Two staff from Ordnance Survey Northern Ireland (OSNI) came to us having never flown a drone before.
No aviation background. No previous experience. Just a willingness to learn — and a clear vision of how drone technology could support OSNI’s work in mapping, geospatial data, and national surveying standards.
It brought to mind a line from Field of Dreams:
“If you build it… they will come.”
Because when you build the right training pathway, the right environment, and the right support system… people don’t just learn — they grow.
These two OSNI team members completed the full journey with us: Beginner training → GVC theory → operational planning → Practical Flight Assessment.
Today, they are fully qualified GVC drone pilots, signed off to the CAA and ready to support OSNI’s operational work across Northern Ireland.

I’m excited to announce the launch of our Drone Pilot Training Summer Scheme 2026, starting Saturday 11th April (weather permitting) 🌤️

At Drone Pilot Training Academy, Carryduff, we’re passionate about inspiring the next generation through hands-on STEM learning and real-world drone skills.

Led by a fully qualified, AccessNI & DBS-vetted instructor and Flight Assessor, this training is designed to be:

Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to build confidence, this is the perfect way to get started in drone flying.

What makes this different?
We keep groups small — just 4 spaces per day — allowing for focused 1-to-1 style training and a much better learning experience.
