Greengables is an independent preschool based in Central Primary School right in the heart of the community of Carrickfergus. Established in the 1980s, we have grown from a small playgroup setting into a highly accomplished preschool with two morning classes ranging in age from 2 years 10 months to 4 years. Through the years, we have gained an excellent reputation for providing high quality educat

ion and care, achieving this through our ethos that children should be able to explore a rich and diverse range of activities within a stimulating, flexible, inclusive and welcoming learning environment. Our ability to achieve such high standards is due in part to our preschool being based within Central Primary School. We believe this early intregration into a primary school setting helps the children build not only an understanding of the academic environment but also helps develop social skills. The preschool has two dedicated classrooms and an outdoor adventure play area but is also able to avail of the facilities of the primary school which ensures that even on rainy days the children are provided with much needed physical exercise. Building close links between home and preschool is highly valued at Greengables so that together we can achieve the very best for our children.

🤩Pre-School Admissions 2026-27🤩
Parents will have received a notification email from the EA today informing them of their child’s pre-school place for Sept 2026. Successful applicants should ensure that they now log on to the EA Portal to accept their allocated place.
All places must be accepted on the EA Portal by the 1st April 2026.
Greengables will be in touch before the end of April with information regarding Open Day, Parent Information Evening and Welcome Packs. Thank you for choosing Greengables for your child’s Early Years Education & Adventures! 🥳

We are delighted to announce that Greengables Pre-School will be moving to full time hours from September 2026!
This means we will be providing children in pre-school funded places 22.5hours a week! This will be very helpful for lots of families who are considering Greengables for their child's pre-education. Our new hours will be 9:05am - 1:35pm.
Pre-School admissions criteria will be published online from tomorrow Wednesday 10th December.
If you missed out on our open night, feel free to contact us for more information or to arrange a visit in the new year!😀
