A bit about us...we opened our doors in 1985 to accommodate the growing population in Carrickfergus.

We were initially based within the parish of St Nicholas; however as we became more diverse it was time re-locate.

We are now located in the centre of the town within the YMCA community on Irish Qtr West.

We have developed close relationships with local communities and schools.

We offer places, (pre-school & pre pre-school) to children from the age of 3yrs. Funded places are available for pre-school places through the EA PSEP.

Parent Notice:
As of Monday 30th September , All Bank if Ireland, Danske Bank and Ulster Bank paper £5 and £10 notes will be withdrawn from circulation in Northern Ireland.

So we will no longer be able to accept them as payment.

Mount St Nicholas playgroup has served the educational needs of the children, in Carrickfergus, for 34 years.
This year we had 20, first preference, applications for pre-school places. The Education Authority allocated us 12 places: based on last October’s register and have refused to allocate places for the remaining 8 children, stating; there were surplus places in the local area; the closest being a government funded, nursery.

The parents involved are adamant that they want their children to attend their first choice and will now have to pay for their child’s pre-school education.

We are hoping through community spirit and the longevity of our local playgroup, we can help these children / families on their educational journey.

Info re Christmas Light switch on in Carrickfergus tomorrow

A full day of festivities is forecast for Carrickfergus on Saturday 18 November from 1-6pm, as Santa Claus himself arrives to switch on the Christmas tree lights with help from the Deputy Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Cheryl Johnston.
