✨ Child-led learning at its best today at Cosmeston ✨

We followed the children’s interests and look where it led us…

👣 Making footprints in the mud
We stopped to look at the shapes we created, big ones, tiny ones, wiggly boot patterns; comparing sizes and noticing details.

💦 Then of course… we had to splash in the puddles to wash them clean! Lots of giggles, lots of muddy joy, and lots of problem solving along the way.

🏡 Exploring the old buildings sparked new vocabulary —
Straw
Thatched roof
Well
Stye

The children were curious about what they were used for and how people lived “a long time ago.”

🐸 The biggest excitement?
Spotting lots of frogs in the pond!
This led to so many wonderful questions…
Where do they sleep?
Why are some bigger than others?
Do they live in the water all the time?

Moments like these are why child-led play is so powerful 💚
Curiosity. Exploration. Language development. Problem solving. Joy.

Another crisp morning adventure ✨❄️

We stepped outside to grass dusted with frost, breath hanging in the air, and paused… just looking 🤍 Little eyes full of wonder as they noticed how everything had changed overnight.

Then we discovered a frozen pond 🧊
Tiny fingers traced the ice, curious questions bubbled up 💭, and we stood quietly listening as the world felt slower and calmer 🌿

Moments like this spark wonder, curiosity, and awe ✨ They invite children to ask questions, make predictions, and connect with the natural world in a way no activity sheet ever could 🌍

Cold hands, rosy cheeks, and memories made 🤍❄️

Exploring frost with our eyes and fingertips, crunching leaves underfoot, and pausing to listen to the robin singing from the bushes 🐦✨

After two weeks away, today felt like a gentle reset; calm, still, and grounding. Nature reminding us to slow down, notice, and simply be 🌿

🌟 Sponsored Walk for the Oliver Steeper Foundation 🌟

Today our little wanderers took part in a special sponsored walk, at their own pace and capability to raise awareness and funds for the Oliver Steeper Foundation 💙👣

The Oliver Steeper Foundation was set up in memory of little Oliver, to support families affected by the loss of a child in an early years setting and to advocate for stronger safety in childcare. As a childminding setting here in Wales, this cause touches our hearts deeply. ❤️

We’re so proud of each child who took part, whether they walked, toddled, or ran their way around our route. Every step was filled with smiles, determination, and a real sense of purpose. 🥰

A huge thank you to all our families for supporting us with donations and encouragement. It was a beautiful way to teach the children about kindness, community, and doing something meaningful together. 🌈 Please follow the link below if you’d like to make a donation.
