Congratulations to our sixth form cohort of 2026!

The year group who went into a global pandemic lockdown in Year 7 have stepped up beyond belief in sixth form. We couldn't be prouder of this year group who have overcome so much and are walking away with a set of results to be proud of. As always, we celebrate the range of achievements and destinations which make up their next steps: from degree courses at highly regarded universities to hugely competitive higher and degree apprenticeships and exciting plans for travel and work... we are delighted to share their success and wish them all the very best as they set off into the wider world!

As another fantastic year comes to a close, we'd like to wish all our Sixth Form students and their families a restful, fun-filled and enjoyable summer break.

Take time to relax, make memories, enjoy new adventures, and most importantly, stay safe and look after yourselves.

Queen Elizabeth Studio School, Kirkby Lonsdale, is celebrating the publication of its latest Ofsted inspection report, which recognises the school as delivering a strong standard of education and identifies its Post-16 provision as a particular strength.

The report marks a significant milestone for the school and reflects the extraordinary progress made in recent years. For a specialist studio school, operating within a unique educational model that combines academic achievement, technical learning and employer engagement, the outcome places Queen Elizabeth Studio School amongst the strongest examples of studio school education in the country.

Ofsted described the Post-16 provision as reaching a "Strong Standard", recognising the personalised programmes of study, high-quality teaching, effective careers guidance, meaningful workplace experiences and successful support students receive in progressing to their next destinations.

Last Friday we were delighted to host Julian from the Bank of England in our Year 12 Economics class. We had an excellent insight into the role of our central bank, how monetary policy works, and the career routes available in the field of Economics. A great way to apply our knowledge and bring the subject to life.

Some of our Year 12 students had a fabulous time going to the open day at Oxford University this week. We were hosted by The Queen's College and spent valuable time meeting subject and admissions tutors, visiting a number of colleges and listening to sample lectures on everything from Ancient History to Materials Science. A wonderful trip!

Yesterday 3 of our year 12 Business and Economics students spent a day working at FMB Kendal. (Financial Management Bureau). They had a fabulous day engaging in some practical sessions with FMB financial planners and spent time with an accountant to learn about both career paths. A huge thank you to FMB for hosting our students.

Two of our Year 12 students, Finlay and Marley, have been absolutely incredible in their efforts to raise money for the children’s cancer charity- Young Lives vs Cancer. They are taking on the challenge of running 5k every day throughout the whole month of June — a fantastic commitment for such an important cause.
Their story has even been featured in the local newspaper, along with a link to their GoFundMe page where you can support their efforts.
Well done, Finlay and Marley — what an amazing achievement so far! Keep going, we are all cheering you on every step of the way!!!👏

On Friday we held our MOVE FOR YOUR MIND DAY created and ran by our Wellbeing Ambassadors!!! It was a huge success where the team ran out of hundreds of cakes in record timing and there was a thrilling game of bench ball during lunch. It was fantastic to see everyone wearing their coloured emotions with pride.

The best part is that our generous school community worked together to raise £570 to go directly to services who help support those who are struggling!! thank you so much for your kindness, it means a lot to us!!

Thank you to those in QESixth who took part in the activities, wore pink for the day and offered help and support. 🩷

✨ Huge congratulations to our Year 12 student, Maia! ✨

We want to celebrate Maia’s incredible achievement in winning the 15–16 age category championships with her contemporary solo at the Own the Stage Dance Festival in Liverpool.

Maia has now qualified for the finals with all three of her dances – an outstanding accomplishment and a true testament to her hard work, dedication, and talent!
