Manvers Bi Lateral School

Manvers Bi Lateral School I went to this school when Mr Hollingsworth was headmaster. Everything about the school was fantastic. Those who wanted to learn could, those that didn't.....

If you went to This School for the full Four or Five years of that part of you school career would you contact me. I only went for one year and didn't know anyone. I went in the third school year, transferred from Morley with the permission of Mr Hollingsworth. My first day there I was put under the wings of the Price Brothers. I was originally placed in the secondary streaming system but was transferred to the Technical stream at T4. I didn't do any English at the school. I used to go to the lessons which were held in the library and told to go and read a book in another part of the library. I excelled at Technical Drawing and was not to bad at maths (Chalky) I broke the 100yards school record and left at the age of 15. I cycled to school from Sycamore Rd, up Donkey Hill and down the other side (So to speak)

I am very sorry that this site will close soon. I opened it because I went to this school from 13 to 15 years of age. I can only remember a few things about my time here. The bike shed (for smoking). The Price brothers, god they were big guys. The day I got the school record for 100yds and went on to train with the County athletic team. The hill to the right hand side of the school as you faced it. One winter we made a giant slide from the top to the bottom of the hill. The ice was so thick I brought my Hockey Skates from home and skated down the slide. Mr Hollingsworth and "Chalkey" the black Maths teacher who was half blind. The old train tunnel where the boys would meat the girls from the girls school behind us. The school may have gone but the memories remain, Bye

I have noticed that on the St Ann's Site a few people say they went to Manvers Bilateral but have never seen this page. If you know someone who went to Manvers perhaps you could direct them to it please. It would be great to build the Page into a Group.

Well hi everyone, welcome to this Facebook web page of Manvers Bilateral Boys School, Nottingham. I was a pupil at this school for just over two years. I transferred in from Morley Secondary School, Wells Rd, Nottingham. So I must apologise about the lack of history about the school, It's structure, or it's members of staff other than Mr Hollingsworth and Mr Williams. The school had marvellous facilities for those who were academic within the school but unlike many others it didn't lack in it's sporting and athletic facilities. I think the only facility we didn't have was a swimming pool but I am sure that had they wanted they could have built one within the grounds. Some people would say, "they didn't have an Ice Rink", but as a keen ice skater I can tell you about one winter I took my skates to school and used them to skate down the hill, within the grounds, leading from the Sports Pitches. It was that cold that we had started to make a slide down the hill, it had rained and the ice was about two inches thick. Great or what??? I know that there are some ex pupils out there because they are on Friends Reunited. So please tell your friends that we exists.
