With over 40 extra-curricular clubs and activities running across the academic year, there really is something for everyone at Caldew School.

🥳 Students and staff at Caldew School are celebrating their GCSE results this morning.

Vicki Jackson, Headteacher, said, “We are very proud of our students’ achievements in their GCSE examinations and we wish to congratulate them on their success. They are all talented young people, and we couldn’t be prouder of them. We are very pleased with these results that continue our good track record at GCSE.”

“I would also like to thank all of the teachers and support staff at Caldew School, for the hard work and commitment that has helped our students be so successful, and parents and carers who have worked with us in supporting their children. I am looking forward to seeing most of them returning to Caldew School in the Sixth Form.”

Mr McArdle, Head of Year 11 said “I am incredibly proud of this year group and it has been a privilege to work with them over the last two years. I would like to take this opportunity to wish every single Year 11 student good luck in the future whatever their destination maybe, including those who are going to college or onto apprenticeships. I would also like to thank parents and carers for all their support in making their children successful at Caldew School.”

Standout results include:

⭐️ Mason Birdsall achieved 9,9 in Science, 9 in English Language, 8 in Business Studies, English Literature, Geography, Media Studies and Spanish, and 7 in Maths.

⭐️ Joel Moore achieved 9s in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, 8 in English Language, History and Maths, 7 in English Literature, 6 in Drama and Spanish.

⭐️ Archie Langley achieved 9s in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, 8 in Maths, 7s in Computer Programming, English Language and Geography, 6 in English Literature, and 5 in Spanish.

⭐️ Alice Greaves achieved Level 2 Distinction* in Health & Social Care, 8s in Biology, Chemistry and History, 7s in English Language, English Literature, Maths and Physics, and 4 in Spanish.

⭐️ Alfie Little achieved 8s in Biology, Chemistry, History, Maths and Physics, 7s in Computer Programming and Spanish, 6 in English Language and 5 in English Literature.

We believe in raising aspirations and challenging our most able students by providing an intellectually stimulating environment with opportunities that extend their learning beyond the classroom.

By nurturing potential and pushing boundaries through opportunities including Axiom Maths and UK Mathematics Trust challenges, pupils can deepen their mathematical understanding, develop perseverance and embrace the challenge of advanced problem-solving.

Caldew School students received their 2026 A Level results today and we are delighted with what our students have achieved.

Vicki Jackson, Headteacher, said, “I would like to congratulate all of our students on achieving excellent results this year. They have worked incredibly hard and have shown a real determination to succeed. We are very proud of them”

“I would also like to thank all the teachers and support staff at Caldew School for their hard work and commitment that has resulted in our students being so successful. I would also like to thank parents and carers who have worked with us in supporting their children. I am very proud to see our Year 13 students progress to the next stage of their lives, whether this be at university, on to an apprenticeship or into the work place. I would like to take this opportunity to wish them every success.

Mr Gaunt, Head of Sixth Form, commented, “It has been a privilege to work with this year group; they were an enthusiastic and hardworking group of students. I wish them every success in the future.”

The vast majority of Caldew School’s students will be able to attend their first choice university, and will study courses including the medicine, law, sciences, mathematics, engineering, computing and the arts at some of the country’s top universities.

Vicki Jackson added, “We are very proud of our Year 13 students and what they have achieved. They have been a wonderful year group who have shown determination, resilience and a great work ethic throughout their time at Caldew School. We will miss them. They fully deserve these excellent results.”

Excellent results were achieved by many including standout academic performances:

⭐️ Joseph Cowing achieved A*s in Chemistry, Maths and Physics, and A in Further Maths. He will be going to University of Sheffield to study Physics.

⭐️ Anna Bedford achieved A*s in Biology and EPQ, As in Chemistry and Maths. She will be going to University of Durham to study Biosciences.

⭐️ Lena Gawron achieved A* in Maths and As in Chemistry, Physics and EPQ. She will be going to University of Glasgow to study Physics.

⭐️ Thomas Massingham achieved As in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and EPQ. He will be going to University of Edinburgh to study Biomedical Sciences.

⭐️ Charlotte Scott achieved As in Criminology, Geography and Psychology, and B in EPQ. She will be going to University of Liverpool to study Occupational Therapy.

⭐️ Hannah Pilmer achieved Distinction* in Health & Social Care and Bs in Biology, PE and Core Maths. She will be going to Northumbria University to study Physiotherapy.

⭐️ Evie Rook achieved As in Psychology and Core Maths, B in History and C in Biology. She will be going to University of Leeds to study Midwifery.

⭐️ Lucy Bowie achieved A* in EPQ, As in History and Psychology and B in Biology. She will be going to University of Liverpool to study Psychology.

⭐️ Kieran Binder achieved A in Core Maths, B in Biology and Cs in Chemistry and Physics. He will be going to Lancaster University to study Biomedical Science.

⭐️ Alexandra Mason achieved As in Geography and History and Cs in English Language & Literature and Criminology. She will be going to University of Liverpool to study Law.

⭐️ Alex Robinson achieved Bs in Business Studies, Criminology and Psychology, and C in Core Maths. He is taking a gap year.

⭐️ Darcy Coulson achieved Bs in Criminology, Geography, Psychology and EPQ. She will be going to University of West London to study Music Management.
