Some of our youngest children enjoyed a lovely walk to the local park.

Along the way, they collected leaves, explored the natural environment around them, and were fascinated by watching the cows. One of the highlights of the adventure was the "bumpy" ride over the bridge, which the children found very funny!

As they explored the open natural space, the children had plenty of opportunities to develop their physical skills. They also used their communication skills as they talked about what they could see and proudly waved goodbye to the cows before heading back.

What a fantastic time for exploration, fresh air and fun! 🌳✨

Children in the pre-school Woodlands Room have been busy engaging in adventurous play, including climbing, creating their own slide, and even building a seesaw! 😊

This play provides children with valuable opportunities to develop their physical, emotional, cognitive, and social skills. Through exploring challenges, testing their abilities, and problem-solving together, children build confidence, resilience, coordination, and independence.

While adventurous play may involve activities with a small element of risk, allowing children to take supported risks is an important part of healthy development. It helps them learn to assess situations, make decisions and gain a sense of achievement when they overcome challenges.

What a fantastic way to learn through play and adventure! 🌟

This week is ICON Week, dedicated to raising awareness about infant crying and how to manage it, supporting parents and carers, and preventing serious injuries.

ICON is an acronym for:

I = Infant crying is normal

Good advice!

🦷 SPIT, DON’T RINSE AFTER BRUSHING

🦷 After brushing, spit out the toothpaste but don’t rinse your mouth with water OR mouthwash.

🦷 This leaves the fluoride on your teeth for longer, helping to protect them from tooth decay.

The 'Seedlings' children - six months to two year olds - visited our local Lidl supermarket last week. The intent of the outing was to enable children to experience the wider community, develop independence and promote their language skills.

During their visit the children independently chose items from the shelves to take back to nursery, such as oats for the sensory exploration trays.
The children enjoyed exploring the textures and smells of the vegetables.

Ada is expressing herself through imaginative play, using sounds and actions as she pretends to drive her car, complete with beep beep!

Ada is developing her gross motor skills, coordination, balance and spatial awareness.

Climbing in and out provides exciting physical challenges that help strengthen her muscles and build confidence in movement.
