What a great, competitive game of hockey for the U14s against Stony!
The girls showed tremendous determination, teamwork and commitment throughout, with every player giving everything right until the final whistle.
Within the first five minutes, Annie produced a sensational run down the wing before delivering a superb cross to Quetzi on the post, who made no mistake and put us 1–0 up.
Stony responded quickly to level the score, but the girls continued to press. Pippa then made an excellent run down the wing and crossed to Annie, who calmly finished to restore our lead.
This was quickly followed by another fantastic run and cross from Annie. Charlotte battled brilliantly for several rebounds before the ball eventually fell to Quetzi, who found the back of the net to make it 3–1.
Francesca, Liberty and Romily worked tirelessly in midfield, constantly tracking back and dropping into defence to support Minnie, Holly, Anna and Daisy. Anna was particularly impressive with her channeling and well-timed jab tackles, winning the ball back on numerous occasions.
In goal, Lulabelle produced her best performance to date. She made numerous important clearances and showed great confidence, making her presence known throughout the game.
Stony fought back strongly in the second half and managed to edge ahead, eventually taking the game 4–3. Despite the result, the girls can be incredibly proud of their performance. Every player gave everything, demonstrated great teamwork and showed real fighting spirit.
