Never danced before? Come along to our beginners’ trial class! 💃

You might have noticed us posting about our brand new Adult Contemporary class launching in September, and we’re making the very first session a trial so you can see if it’s for you before signing up…

As everyone will be learning together from the very first session, you don’t need any previous contemporary dance experience to join us!

You’ll meet our lovely teacher Laura and discover just how fun, freeing and creative contemporary dance can be, all while building your confidence alongside the rest of the class 🫶

The trial session costs £10.20 and takes place on Monday 7th September from 7pm–8pm, giving you the chance to come along and see if it’s for you before signing up for the full term 🙌

Rachel swapped the ballet studio for a trip to Birmingham recently and had a great time!

She attended the Dance Business Conference alongside lots of other dance school owners from across the country and there were plenty of opportunities to learn, share ideas and think about what’s next for Cumbria Ballet School…

Rachel is always looking for new ways to help the school keep moving forward and give our dancers the very best experience possible, so we’re sure she returned with a notebook full of plans…although knowing Rachel, she already has quite a few up her sleeve! 😅

It won’t be long until the studio is full of music and familiar faces again, it’s been very quiet around here without you all!

We thought we’d give you a little reminder of the important dates to pop in your diary for next term…

🙌 First day back: Monday 7th September
💃 Half-term: 26th October–1st November
🎶 Ballet exams: Sunday 22nd & Monday 23rd November
🩵 Last day of term: Saturday 12th December

There’s lots happening when we return, including our brand new contemporary dance classes for children and adults!

With all those special moments from the stage all in one place, it’s a lovely keepsake to look back on for years to come 🩵

We’re incredibly proud (and more than a little sad!) to be saying goodbye to Aglaia as she begins an exciting new chapter…

Aglaia came to Carlisle from Ukraine 4 years ago and joined Cumbria Ballet School soon afterwards. Since then, she has thrown herself into her training, attending ballet twice a week alongside pointe work and achieving a Distinction in every Classical Ballet exam and Performance Award she has taken! 👏

She has made some wonderful friends, spent a week completing work experience with us at the studio and most recently, danced the Fairy of the Golden Vine solo beautifully in our July show.

This September, Aglaia will move to a boarding sixth-form college near Cambridge to continue her academic studies as finding somewhere she could carry on with her ballet training was high on her list when choosing where to go – this tells you just how much dance means to her!

Aglaia is a gorgeous dancer with wonderful musicality and an amazing ability to pick up sequences quickly. Whoever has the pleasure of teaching her next will be very lucky!

Well done Aglaia for all your hard work and determination. Your skills will take you far in life, whatever you choose to do and we wish you every success 🫶

We had some excellent results in our last ISTD Cecchetti Classical Ballet exams and it was wonderful to see all those hours of practice pay off!

A brilliant result is always worth celebrating, but ballet exams are about so much more than a mark. They show our dancers what they’re capable of and give them something exciting to aim for as they continue progressing with us.

For dancers who want to take their ballet further, there’s always an opportunity to keep learning and developing their technique at Cumbria Ballet School - we’ll always be there to encourage you and help you take that next step 💙

Now, we’re looking ahead to another exam term this autumn and our next exams are planned for November! We’ll share the exact date as soon as it’s confirmed 🩰
