​Here is an update on the restoration of the historic Park Keeper’s Lodge in Bitts Park!
​🔨 What’s Happening Next?

👉​September: Story Contracting and Story Homes step on site to carry out essential structural repair work. They are delivering these works—including roof repairs, new doors and windows, joinery, electricals, and insulation—at no cost to the council to make the building safe, dry, and secure.

👉​November: Carlisle College construction students move in! Instead of working on temporary classroom models that get discarded, students will gain real-world, hands-on restoration experience on an actual local landmark.

☕ What’s the Long-Term Vision?
This joint venture between Cumberland Council, Story Contracting, Story Homes, Carlisle College, and Habitat for Humanity Great Britain which aims to turn the restored building into a vibrant café and community hub right next to the main play area—bringing public amenities back to our favourite park!
It’s an incredible example of local businesses, local education, and campaigners coming together to save Carlisle's heritage.
