🌍🇬🇭 Ghana Experience Day at WBS! 💛💚❤️

On Wednesday 7th October, we enjoyed our very own Ghana Experience Day at WBS as part of our special link with Ankoma Outreach for Dreamers Week! ✨

The children had a fantastic opportunity to learn all about Ghana, discovering more about culture, food and traditions. At break time, the children experienced trying some of the fruits and vegetables grown in Ghana, tasting mangoes, pineapples, coconuts and limes! 🥭🍍🥥🍋‍🟩

⭐️🥉Today, some of our Year 6 pupils represented the school at a netball tournament at William Howard School. It was a fantastic morning of netball. The team finished joint first in their group with Fir Ends only beating them on goal difference. They played in the runner up final where the second place teams in groups A and B played each other. Everyone played fantastically and they beat Bewcastle/ Castle Carrock A 2-1 and therefore finished the whole tournament in third place!
The children were a pleasure to take, had wonderful manners and set a wonderful example of the children at WBS! 🥉⭐️

On Saturday, two of our football teams represented the school at a 6-a-side tournament at William Howard School. They all wore our brand new football kit which looked very smart.

WBS A team

The WBS A team won all five of their group games beating some very strong opposition along the way. In the semi-finals, they were up against Brampton and beat them 3-0. The final was against Fir Ends. The team had won 1-0 in the group stage and in the final, Warwick Bridge won 5-1. The team had regained the trophy after last winning it in 2024. Well done to all the players and Martin Scott who coached the team to victory. In all, the team scored twenty goals and conceded one in the whole tournament. They won all seven matches and thoroughly deserved their medals and trophy.

WBS B team

The WBS B team also played very well at the tournament. They had a tough set of fixtures playing six games in the group stage. They finished fourth in the mini-league which guaranteed them a semi-final place. This match was against Irthington who had been very strong throughout the tournament. The WBS team played very well, but lost the semi-final to a very good team who went on to lift the trophy. Well done to all the players and a big thank you to Phil Brown who coached the team on the day.

Last Friday, we marked Youth Mental Health Day by exploring how small, kind acts can make a big difference in each other’s lives. The school spent the day looking out for acts of kindness around us and brought them all together in our very own Kindness Tree! 🌳
