Bounce Back Queen

Bounce Back Queen I support women turning setbacks into bounce backs. I’m neither townie nor country bumpkin but some weird mix of both….. It works for me!

I’m in that middle ground – 50 ‘something’ not quite closing on retirement but realising that 50 actually isn’t ‘middleaged’ after all – I think I missed that bit. I’m a Mum to two grown lads who have both flown the nest following their own dreams at University and trialling new careers – luckily for me within 2 hours drive/train ride and a less than half an hour from each other! I’m living with my partner of the last 8 years in a lovely house on the outskirts of the city, easy access to the shops (and takeaways eek) and not far from our glorious countryside too! I spent years as a 20 something following my career in the Travel Industry, got married and had kids in my 30’s and tasted the self employed life. By mid 30’s our family had relocated to Cumbria and I’d started not one but three businesses as well as managing the books for my husbands software business. Adapting and flexing life around family and commitments seems to be my forte! Eventually things become too much and something has to give. At the time that was the marriage – pleased to say that both of us are much happier apart and our lads have grown up to be fabulous and caring young men. So it was time for another relocate and adapt to life as a single mum of teenagers…. No mean feat I can tell you. Not only that but now I had 100% of the responsibility of running our new home, settling the lads into new schools and keeping one of my businesses running. (the other two were location based and we sold the house!)

Focusing on one business, finally, was a lesson I wish I’d learned years before. Suddenly my little weight loss business was flourishing. I started to grow a team and then began to win awards within the network - for three years running! During this time I also met my now partner and together we fought his cancer battle – adapting my business and life around appointments as we needed. Lots of lessons learned there. Now I’m using my years of life experience to help others. I’m still supporting my weight management clients, and over time realised I was coaching and mentoring both clients, team and friends alike – even someone I met in a coffee shop. Tell me you don’t know where to turn, you’re no good at anything and what’s the point anyway… and I’ll show you just what you are made of!

This morning’s lesson in “personal growth I didn’t ask for but here we are”…
…courtesy of the 1130 train to Manchester. 🚆✨

I walked on with a reserved seat, feeling very smug and organised… only to find my table completely full.
Absolutely rammed.
And the people sat there?
Let’s just say… not the type I fancied tapping on the shoulder before lunch.

Old me would’ve stood my ground, pointed out my seat number and probably thrown in a full TED Talk on why reservations exist for a reason.

Instead, I heard myself mutter:
“I guess I’m not sitting in my own seat then…”
(This is British for: “I’m furious but I’m also too tired for confrontation.”)

And then… I just walked on.
Found another seat.
Sat down.
Exhaled.

And you know what?
It felt… strangely freeing.

Not everything needs a battle.
Not every moment needs me to prove a point.
Sometimes peace tastes better than being right — especially when I’m on my way to Christmas markets with my mum and a gorgeous catch-up with my boys. 🎄💕

Tiny win.
Tiny reminder.
Not every wobble needs to knock your day off track.
Sometimes it’s okay to roll your eyes, mutter under your breath, and keep walking.

Phoenix energy, even on the train. 🔥🫶

So… apparently my ‘I’m totally ahead and organised’ era lasted about three weeks 😅
Life got noisy, I blinked, and a few of my ‘50 Reasons You’ll Love Losing’ posts snuck off for a mini holiday.
But hey — if that’s not the definition of bouncing back, I don’t know what is. 💃
Because missing a few days doesn’t mean failure… it just means you’re human.
So, we’re picking up right where we left off with Reason 40 tomorrow — and keeping it real all the way to 60!
