“Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working.” — Pablo Picasso

🎨 Inspiration doesn’t always arrive magically — sometimes it appears while you’re already putting in the effort, learning, and creating.

Every step you take in learning Spanish brings you closer to confidence and fluency 🇪🇸📚

Keep showing up, keep practicing, and let inspiration meet you along the way 💫

🇪🇸 Did you know... Spanish pronunciation is more consistent than English?

Most Spanish words are pronounced exactly the way they’re written ✨
For example, the letter "H" is silent — so "hola" is pronounced “ola” 👋

Once you learn the sounds of each letter, reading and speaking Spanish becomes much easier and more natural 💬📚

🎧 What’s the first Spanish word you learned to pronounce correctly?

✨ Minuto de humor!

— ¿Qué hace un pez en el agua? 🌊🐠
— Nada. 😆

Learning Spanish through humor makes vocabulary more memorable and the process way more fun 💬🎉

😂 Did this one make you smile?

“Doing is the best way of saying.” — José Martí

✨ Actions speak louder than words — in every language.

Learning Spanish isn’t just about memorizing vocabulary. It’s about practicing, making mistakes, speaking up, and growing one conversation at a time. 🇪🇸📚

Every “hola,” every sentence, and every attempt brings you closer to confidence.

What’s one thing you’ve *done* recently to improve your Spanish? 👀

🇪🇸 Did you know… some Spanish words don’t have a direct English translation?

One example is "sobremesa" — the moment spent chatting and enjoying each other’s company after a meal. 🍷✨

It’s more than just conversation — it reflects the importance of connection, warmth, and togetherness in Spanish-speaking culture ❤️

💬 Have you ever had a "sobremesa" moment without realizing it?

💬 ¡Hablemos!

✍️ Fill in the blank:
“Hola, me llamo ________ .”

It’s one of the first phrases you learn in Spanish… and now it’s your turn! 👋🇪🇸

Drop your name in the comments and introduce yourself in Spanish!
Bonus points if you add where you’re from too 😉

We're cooking up a new recipe in the academy this week and I thought I'd go shopping for the ingredientes. Can you guess what the recipe is? If you've seen some of my other posts you'll already have a clue.

Anyway, here's a little video, that I thought would be quite practical for you all when you're shopping in Spain.

Un canasto = a shopping basket
Un carrito = a shopping trolley.

Un carro = a car in Latin American Spanish but means a cart in Spain. In Spain the word for car is "un coche"
Un carrito = a little cart in Spain. "Ito" is often added onto the end of a word to make is sound smaller.

Don' know any Spanish at all yet? Or want to check you understood the video? Here's what it all means:

Hi, hello. It's Helen from Taste of Spanish again. Well, I'm in the supermarket buying food for our new recipe and I'm going to take a basket. I'm going to take a basket. Yes? No. I'm going to take a shopping trolley.
