We had fun making the monster eat the words. I say a word, the monster finds it and eats it. I used this to recap some of the vocab that C would need to be able to read his book and to recap some of the words that he has been struggling with. It’s fair to say the monster is getting better at his phonics, he ate all of the words that I said

Great work from T thinking of different places that Mr Mole could pop up throughout the story. He had to think about what Mr Mole would say as he popped up in each place. Some great ideas from a fab 5 year old!
I love using games in my sessions and today connect 4 ended up being well used. Spelling games and times table practice with the added fun of connect 4. Yes I was competitive and yes I was determined to win. Did I win??? No 😂
Another Little Dove loving the book ‘What if snot glowed in the dark’. It’s a real winner for engaging boys. L loved reading all of the horrible facts and found talking about them very funny. Then he chose some independent writing so that he could write down some of the facts that he had learned.
Some great work with partitioning from O in the past couple of weeks. She recognises that each digit has a different value and is now able to partition and recombine numbers. Her place value knowledge is coming along nicely. Keep working hard O!
T is going into year 1 in September so we had a preemptive practice at using a number line to add a 2 digit number to a 1 digit number. He is confident with the process of adding and understands the concept so giving him a practical strategy to use as numbers get bigger seemed like the logical choice.
A lovely little present from one of my Little Doves. It is so lovely to know that they think of me outside of our sessions and especially when on holiday. Thank you S, I love my keyring 😊

New offer alert!!! Small group sessions available from September. Maximum 4 children, personalised learning but at a lower price than 1:1. Please share with anyone who might be looking for way to support their child without breaking the bank.
Addition and subtraction on a number line. Moving from concrete apparatus to a pictorial representation is a difficult step but it shows a deeper understanding of the concept. T nailed it 💪
I’m seeing double 😵💫. Practicing some doubles today, focussing on 1-5. Ladybird spots helped C to understand that doubling is adding 2 of the same number. Having a bit of a practice writing number sentences too. C is only just going into year 1 so this will help prepare him.
