Happy 3rd birthday MF! 🎈🎂

Welcome to our play dough station! 🩷🐭🎀

Today in Penguins we have been celebrating our friend MF’s 3rd birthday where we followed on from her current interest in Minnie Mouse. So the ladies created Minnie Mouse play dough for the children to explore where we had a range of different loose parts even some bows too. We had so much fun using the loose parts to enhance our play dough and give us lots of different play ideas too. Throughout we spoke about the resources we were using and how we could use them in different ways. We also spoke about the patterns and marks our resources were making too. The children even had the great idea to place the bow on their heads too.

Later on at snack time we enjoyed some Yummy cake kindly provided by MF’s parents, thank you so much for providing this cake too. 🍰🥳

All in all we have had a fabulous day celebrating MF’s 3rd birthday and developing our imaginative play, fine and gross motor skills and so much more throughout our play too. We can’t wait to tell you all about it later! 🥰

Different Stone Shapes

Today in owls we have been learning about different stones and the shape and colour that they are.

The INTENT of this activity came from ES and KG as the previous day they were collecting different types of stones and the colours of them.

The ladies IMPLEMENTED this by providing the children with different resources, such as stones,sand,shells,building blocks and magnifying glass. The children used the magnifying glass to look at the stones to see what they looked like. ES said that some of the stones were smooth. The children each made different marks in the sand with the shells and blocks.

The IMPACT of this activity was that the children were able to use their communication skills, talking about where the stones come from and marks that they were making. The children said that the stones come from the beach and garden.

Whilst taking part in this activity the children also celebrated EW’s last day with mother goose as she is moving onto school. We wish her well in her new adventures. The areas of learning during the activity are :

Play Dough

Today in owls we have been learning how we make play dough and what it feels like. Some of the children said we need flour, salt and some colours to change the colour of the play dough. ES said it was cold when she felt it.

The INTENT of this activity was for the children to use their imagination and skills of how to use the play dough. Cheryl showed the children a nursery rhyme of the incy wincy spider where they used their fine motor skills by patty, squeezing and finger printing the play dough. This was to help them promote their fine motor skills. The children enjoyed doing this and kept on asking to do it again.

The ladies IMPLEMENTED this by providing the children with different resources, such red play dough, acorns and rings. The children each made different objects such as a spider, house, ice cream etc.

The IMPACT of this activity was that the children were able to use their communication skills, talking about what they had made.

Come along for a Yoga morning with us! 🧘

This morning we have been relaxing and doing some yoga to relax and stretch our bodies ready for another busy day playing! This activity led on from the children’s interest in stretching and getting active. The children did a fabulous job copying the ladies as we did the different yoga poses together, trying super hard to get them right. Throughout we also practiced our deep breaths and different breathing techniques too. This was the perfect opportunity for the children to get active, stretch their muscles and have fun together too.

The INTENT of this activity was to allow the children to get active and learn about their body’s and how we can stretch. The ladies IMPLEMENTED this throughout by demonstrating all the different moves and helping the children complete these moves too. The IMPACT of this activity was that the children were able to get active, develop their gross motor skills and most importantly have fun!

All in all we have had a fabulous morning doing our yoga and we can’t wait to tell you all about it later too! 🥰

Hairdressing

Today in owls we have been learning about different hair styles that people have. The ladies asked the children what styles they would like and the colour.

The INTENT of this activity was for the children to use their imagination and communication skills, telling our peers and the ladies about different hair styles they could do. KD was doing Cheryl’s hair he was putting it in pig tails and added clips. KG told the ladies it would cost £10.00 to do their hair.

The ladies IMPLEMENTED this by providing the children with different resources, such clips,hair brushes,combs,shampoo spray and a different coloured book.The ladies also provided a kettle and cups so that the children could make cups of coffee and tea. The children then looked at themselves in the mirror to see how they looked.

The IMPACT of this activity was that the children were able to use their communication skills, talking about different hair styles, Cheryl told the children that in different countries they have different styles due to their culture.

Splish Splash in the muddy puddles! ☔️

Today in Penguin’s we got our rain suits and welly boots on and went into the garden to splash around in the puddles! And as you can see we had the most amazing time doing so! Whilst in the garden we had so much fun splashing and counting down to jumping in the puddles and making super big splashes to.

The INTENT of this activity was to allow the children to have fun and enjoy being outside. The ladies IMPLEMENTED this throughout by going outside and allowing the children to get involved. The IMPACT of this was that the children were able to get active and use our physical skills.

All in all we had so much fun splashing in the puddles and we can’t wait to tell you all about it later! 🥰

Dressing up Parlour

Today in owls we have been learning about different jobs that people do. The ladies asked the children what they would like to be when they grow up. EW said she would like to be a farmer while SC said a painter and decorator.

The INTENT of this activity was for the children to use their imagination and communication skills, telling our peers and the ladies about the different people that they could dress up as. KD and SC were looking at a cookery book discussing different foods and making cups of coffee.

The ladies IMPLEMENTED this by providing the children with different resources, such as cups,saucers, different clothing for the children to dress up. The ladies also provided builders hats and different tools for them to use during their play. The children then looked at themselves in the mirror to see how they looked.

The IMPACT of this activity was that the children were able to use their communication skills, talking about what they had dressed up as, and what they wanted to be when they were older.

Experimenting with colours 🧪 🟡🟠🔴🟢🔵

Today in Penguins’s we have been experimenting with the colours where the ladies had diluted paint and pippets where we used the pippets to pump the paint onto the cotton wool pads. We mixed the colours experimenting with what colours we could create too. This activity led on from the children’s interest in colours and getting creative. Throughout we spoke about the colours we were creating and what colours we could make by mixing the colours too. We used our colour logs to help develop our colour recognition too. Whilst getting involved we were able to make a mix of colourful mixes which we were proud to show to all of our friends too.

The INTENT of this activity was to allow the children learn about colours and develop their creativity and colour recognition too. The ladies IMPLEMENTED this throughout by having a range of different colours for the children to explore and use to get creative too. The IMPACT of this activity was that the children were able to develop their knowledge of colours whilst getting creative too.

All in all the children had a fabulous day learning about colours and we can’t wait to tell you all about it later. 🥰

Ready Steady…. GO!! 🚦

Today in Penguin’s we have been busy exploring the vehicles where we used the map, tyres and other resources. This led on from the children’s interest in all different vehicles. The children started off by using the map as roads and rolling the cars along them saying “BEEP BEEP” and making different car sounds too. The children then went on to roll the cars up and down the tyres making their own roads and using their own ideas to develop their play further. We also used the train track to develop and enhance our play too. The children were able to tell the ladies what the different vehicles were, their colours and so much more.

The INTENT of this activity was to allow the children to follow an interest and enhance their play ideas. The ladies IMPLEMENTED this throughout by having a range of different resources to use and explore the vehicles with. The IMPACT of this activity was that the children were able to develop their interest and also express themselves through their play.

All in all we have had a fabulous day exploring all the different vehicles and we can’t wait to tell you all about it later! 🥰
