We don't know this person's life outside of school.

Your kindness can make a big difference and it costs you nothing.

Everyone deserves a chance, maybe even their life gets better ❤.

Giving your children a way out of tricky social situations is important. Especially as they become teenagers and grow in their autonomy and exploration of worlds outside of your home. Letting them know they can rely on you without fear of retribution is imperative to cultivating a trusting dynamic between you. Teens long to have the chance to figure things out on their own, and since they don't have many many things figured out yet, they often end up in situations that are stickier than they anticipated. What a lovely idea which all schools could easily adopt.

Walking through my son's schoolyard, I notice a bench painted bright red. I asked my son, "Is that the only place to sit around here?" He said, "No, that's the buddy bench. When someone feels lonely or they have nobody to play with, they sit there and kids ask them to play." WOW. AMAZING. I then told him how wonderful that was and asked him if he ever used it. He said, "Yeah. When I was new I sat there and someone came and asked me to play. I felt happy. And now, when I see kids on it, I ask them to play with me. We all do."
