Sewing with Alison

Sewing with Alison I offer classes in sewing, patchwork and quilting. I also enjoy working with groups, including commu I have been teaching textiles for over 15 years.

Many students have told me about scary sewing teachers they had at school. My classes are the antidote ! I aim to make sewing fun and accessible for anyone wishing to learn, whether you want to learn how to use a sewing machine, make a dress, curtains, a quilt - or anything else. I've worked in adult education, and with community groups, where we've made exciting things like wall hangings and story sacks. I'm always open to try something new. I currently teach 3 classes with Cardiff Adult education, and one community project with Communities First in Pentrebane. I also work with a church based quilting group.

CWTCH QUILT UPDATE !

Thanks for letting me know, the people who have quilts ready. I’ve decided to wait until December and do a bigger delivery then. I know there are some quilts on the go, and it would be great to have a big delivery for Christmas. So hang onto the quilts for now (unless you don’t have space for them, and I’ll be happy to store them for you). In the meantime, if you fancy making a quilt, or want to get cracking on some Christmas wiggly bags, feel free !

Any Cwtch Quilts out there waiting ?

Many apologies for the long “radio silence” - yet more health stuff. I am now without a gall bladder, but with ongoing problems, plus more eye stuff 😢. I realise that I usually do a hospital delivery in September, and am just wondering how many quilts there might be out there, waiting to be gathered up ? If there are a reasonable number, I can do a delivery in the next few weeks. If not, I’ll wait and add them to the pre - Christmas delivery in December.

This bright and cheery quilt is one of Wendy’s, which went to the hospital in the latest delivery. Love the zingy green stars ! 💚 Thanks Wendy !

And never forget - if you want to make a Cwtch Quilt, and would like some fabric - I have a stash !

Many apologies to Lou, whose name I managed to leave off the “list” yesterday of people who had made quilts for the latest delivery. She contributed 3 splendid quilts, and here are some photos of just one of them. It’s hard to say which is the front and which is the back ! Earlier this week, we dropped off the latest Cwtch quilt delivery to the Children’s Hospital. My usual contact, Tina, had to take her son for an appointment, so we were greeted by two of her colleagues, and sadly I didn’t get their names. But they were delighted ! A big thank you to all the quilters who contributed this time - Jacky, Anna, Terri, Ann and Wendy. I even managed an incubator quilt myself !

Cwtch delivery this week. If you have anything ready to go to the hospital, please could you get it to me today, ideally, or tomorrow at a pinch.
Terri dropped off a couple of gorgeous quilts a few days ago - here she is with one of them. I’m also accumulating a whole wiggle of wiggly bags - plus generous offerings of Beads of Courage bags, knitted bonding hearts ….. incubator and other quilts !! Do get in touch if you have something but can’t deliver it to me. Many thanks - diolch !!
