🏠Our Home Corner🏠
At Castleton Pre-School and Nursery we have a lovely home corner for our children to explore.

Playing in the home corner allows children to make sense of their immediate world. By replicating everyday tasks that they see happening around them, they learn important life skills.

The children work together, express their feelings, and use language to communicate. This builds confidence and helps them develop empathy and start to process emotions.
The home corner can be a cozy, safe place for children to express themselves and use their imaginations.

In this environment the children are also using motor skills and problem solving and taking turns

🎨Arts, Craft and Messy Play🎨

When children are busy playing with messy play, paints or even colouring what are they learning?

They are learning to pour and fill, use their fine motor skills by holding a pencil and even learning how to control their wrist movements. They are learning how to strengthen their arms without even knowing it themselves. By focusing on thing such as messy play or craft they are developing their hand eye coordination skills, as well as the various language that can be used along side it with socializing.

When doing craft children will begin to decided which hand is their preferred hand whether it is left, right or both. They will also develop a sense of pride and accomplishment when finishing their picture even if it is something as small as a squiggle. You may also find that some children use craft and messy play as a way to express their imagination or emotions!
