What a wonderful way to end the term with a magical visit to the nativity at St Denys Church and a fun-fulled Christmas party with the amazing Emily from LittleFizz. The children were also lucky enough to have a visit from Father Christmas!

A huge heartfelt thank you for all our Christmas gifts - wishing you all a happy and peaceful Christmas xx

Lots of Christmas fun this week as we near the end of term!

The children have enjoyed pretending to be Santa, delivering presents in the Christmas role play area, making sleighs and filling stockings with toys!

They have been playing with busy bricks, opening the little bricks to find Christmas figures inside and have been scooping glittery sand outside.

The children have been making lots of Christmas craft too, making Christmas jumpers collages and special Christmas cards for their family and have also been busy practicing their songs for their parents and carers for next week’s nativity and are very excited to perform !

Christmas has arrived at Treetops Playgroup!

There was much excitement when the children came in on Monday to discover a snowy Christmas corner, with stockings to fill, snowmen to build and a Santa’s elf house to play in!

They had great fun helping to decorate the Christmas tree and have been busy on the art table making Christmas craft , handprint wreaths and decorating some beautiful wooden Christmas tree gifts.

Both our Christmas display boards are now up as well , adding to the Christmas spirit - well done everyone your work looks amazing!

They have also played with soapy Christmas sponges, Christmas filled busy bricks, a festive snowy happyland and scooter and jingle bells outside !

On top of that, at circle time the children have completed their sponsored Pack-A-Sack as they raced to see how many presents they could pack into Santa’s sack in the time it takes to sing jingle bells. Not only did they have lots of fun ( and a chocolate coin!) but they have hopefully raised lots of money for Treetops- thank you everyone!

The children of Treetops Playgroup have enjoyed their final week of having our Autumn tree in the role play corner, before it makes way for Christmas !

The art table has been so busy this week for ‘hibernation week’. The children have collaged blankets for bears to keep them cosy for the winter, they have given hedgehogs spikes by painting with forks. The afternoon children also finished off a tasty gingerbread man board ready for Christmas, whilst the morning children began making their sparkly Christmas light board too - well done everyone!

The children have also enjoyed our balance beams and rockers outside and popping up cheeky door mice from their cheese on the malleable table. They have also have had lots of fun squeezing water onto kitchen roll wriggly snakes to make them wiggle and expand !

This week at Treetops Playgroup, our play has be themed around Autumn and hibernation.

The children have really enjoyed playing with all the bears in our Autumn role play area, hiding them in their caves to have a lovely sleep for the Winter. They’ve enjoyed being bears too, hibernating in our ‘cave’ tent!

The art table has been busy this week, with hedgehog painting and acorn collages as well as bear print painting using our toy bear figures. The afternoon children also started making lots of gingerbread men in preparation for our Christmas display board.

The children have also enjoyed going on a bear hunt at circle time, building hibernation caves with our giant Lego blocks, threading fruit, our creative building pipes and our under the sea small world.

They’ve also kept warm in the icy weather by scooting around the playground !

Lovely news this week too as Teacher Karan welcomed her beautiful baby boy Roman to the world! Congratulations again from us all, we can’t wait to meet him xx

What a busy week it's been at Treetops Playgroup. So much to choose from to play with from wild animals, jigsaws and water play to fine motor sensory activity boards.

We have been doing lots of Harvest craft this week including sweetcorn collaging and carrot stamping. We been enjoying lots of new scarf songs at circle time too which are great for hand eye, dexterity, gross motor, crossing the midline and having lots of fun of course !!

Autumn has arrived at Treetops!

When the children came back this week they were very surprised to see that a tree had appeared in playgroup complete with autumn leaves, conkers and pine cones!

As well as a tree to decorate, the role play corner also has lots of bears to play with and caves for them to hibernate in as well as a big cave for the children too, which has proved very popular!

This all ties in with the new autumnal theme for the first part of our term ‘Autumn, sparkle and fun!’.

With bonfire night falling this week we have also had lots of firework fun on the art table with paint, glitter, sparkles and magic scratch off paper ! We’ve also made some super autumn leaf crowns and enjoyed squishing colourful and crackly play foam.

Our Treetops’ trees have also provided some real leaves to play with outside, so the children have been busy sweeping and scooping and making giant piles!

Our final week before half term has been a busy one. Our theme has been ‘our feelings’ with a little touch of Halloween fun !

On the art table the children have enjoyed plenty of spooky crafts, including making witch and wizards’ hats, spider’s webs and Halloween cards with lots of sticker sticking for our fine motor skills!

We have also had two lovely pumpkins for the children to hammer golf tees into, which has been one of their favourite activities of this week. They have also loved the Halloween sensory tray on the discovery table which allowed the children to search for hidden spooky bits in the Halloween pasta. Halloween dressing up and squishing ‘monster’ hands on the malleable table have also been lots of fun.

At circle time, we have played the Halloween freeze game and a monster version of head, shoulders knees and toes. We have also been talking about our feelings. The children have used our emotions mirrors to recognise different emotions and have played the emotions hokey pokey! We have also learnt the Makaton song for ‘Happy’.

Wishing everyone a very happy half term!
