BowlsWales has launched a recruitment drive for new Non-Executive Directors as we move into an exciting new chapter for the organisation!

We're particularly keen to hear from candidates with experience in:
🔹 Safeguarding (children and adults)
🔹 Finance / Audit

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of bowls in Wales — contributing your skills and experience to strong governance at a pivotal time, as we begin to deliver our new Strategy.

📋 The role:
✅ Voluntary, with reasonable expenses paid
✅ 3-year term (max two terms)
✅ 6 Board meetings a year, plus events/papers — around 2 days a month total

📅 How to apply:

🥉 BRONZE FOR WALES AT GLASGOW 2026!

What a way to close out the sectional and knockout stages for our bowls and para bowls athletes!

Julie Thomas & Steffan James clinched a stunning bronze medal in the Mixed Para Pairs B2-B3, coming from behind to beat New Zealand in a sudden-death tie-break.

Amy Williams & Lauren Gowen can also hold their heads high after an unbeaten run through the group stage in the Women's Pairs, narrowly missing out on a medal of their own with defeats in the semi-final and bronze match.

And Ross Owen competed brilliantly in a stacked Men's Singles field.

Congratulations to all three combinations, and to directors John Wilson and Jamie Jones, on a memorable Games.

Bowls Wales has been deeply saddened by the loss of Mike Doody, who served as our Member Nominated Director on the Board.

Mike gave many years of service to bowls in Wales, bringing genuine passion for the sport to every discussion and decision he took part in. As a Board member, his advice and support were always gratefully received, particularly through some challenging periods for the organisation, and his commitment to seeing Welsh bowls thrive never wavered.

Those who worked alongside him on the Board remember him as a good man and a passionate advocate for the sport, always generous with his time and his stories.

On behalf of everyone at Bowls Wales, our thoughts are with Mike's family and friends at this difficult time. He will be greatly missed by the bowls community across Wales.

We are absolutely delighted to share that Welsh bowls legend Anwen Butten MBE has been inducted into the Welsh Sports Hall of Fame! 🏆

Announced last night at the Team Wales send-off ahead of Glasgow 2026, it's a fitting tribute to one of our sport's greatest ever figures.

Six Commonwealth Games. Two bronze medals. World Championship gold. The first bowler ever to captain all of Team Wales. And an MBE to boot.

Anwen Butten — you have given everything to Welsh bowls, on the green and behind the scenes. This is so very well deserved.

In just 100 days, Team Wales heads to Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games 2026. Wales has competed at every Games since 1930, and that proud tradition continues this summer.

We can't wait to cheer on our athletes as they carry the red dragon to Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁸󠁿🎯

🎉 100 years of Crown Green Bowling in Wales!

This year marks the centenary of the Welsh Crown Green Bowling Association and what a century it's been. From newspaper clippings dating back to the 1920s, to champions crowned in 2025, the WCGBA has been at the heart of Welsh bowls for generations.

We love seeing this incredible display celebrating 100 years of players, clubs, and communities across Wales. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁮/🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

And the celebrations continue, mark your calendars for a special centenary tournament on Sunday 31st May 2026. More details to follow from the WCGBA!
