⚜️ Class of 2026 Graduation Trip: Florence

The Class 12 graduation trip is the culmination of a student’s journey through Steiner education - a meaningful moment to look back on how far they have come and forward to where they are going.

There’s no better place for this transition than Florence, and our Class 12 are having an incredible time immersing themselves in the city's rich art history and culture. As the cradle of the Renaissance, its a city built by visionaries who broke boundaries in art and architecture, mirroring the profound shifts in human consciousness that our students explore throughout their curriculum.

Seeing these masterpieces firsthand allows students to connect deep historical study with their own personal growth. As they prepare to leave behind the familiar structures and rhythms of school life, the city serves as an inspiring backdrop for them to contemplate their own next steps into the wider world.

Both an ending and a beginning, its an opportunity for our Class 12 students to walk through living history, celebrate their shared achievements, and unite one last time as graduates of Cardiff Steiner School, surrounded by beauty, artistic reverence and the supportive warmth of their community.

🔥Ty Haul’s Experiential Science Trip - a week of hands-on learning in nature

Ty Haul swapped the classroom for the great outdoors, diving into an immersive week of experiential science in the heart of the Devon countryside.

From constructing lime kilns to mastering charcoal pyrolysis, students discovered physics and organic chemistry through real, hands-on experimentation.

Living together in shared bell tents, they harvested and cooked their own meals in a wood-fired kitchen, learning first-hand where food comes from and what it takes to prepare it as a community.

Alongside the learning there was space for something quieter too. There's a particular kind of togetherness that happens at the end of a long day, swapping stories in the wood-fired hot tub, the shared effort of the day settling into rest.

A week of mindfulness, collaboration and connection - to nature, to the science that shapes it, and to each other.

With huge thanks to the team at On The Hill for welcoming us 💚

Stepping into their futures - and inspiring the next ☀️

A few highlights from our Class 12 Public Exhibition. At the heart of our Upper School's NZCSE qualification sits the Class 12 Project: a year-long, entirely self-directed piece of independent research and practical work. It is, quite deliberately, a forerunner for the kind of self-motivated, original thinking that universities and employers value most.

We loved watching our Class 12 students confidently discuss their work and share their insights with visitors of all ages from across our School community.

For our younger students in Class 1 and up, walking through this exhibition and talking with the students is pure inspiration. It gives them a tangible glimpse of their own futures, seeing just how confident and capable our graduating students are.

Want to learn more about how our Upper School prepares students for our changing world? Arrange a personal tour before term ends to see the School in action.

A city reveals itself in many ways.

Through the temperatures of its streets. Through the stories told in its art. Through the history written into its buildings and public spaces.

Over the past two days Class Ty Tan have explored Madrid and Segovia through science, art and history: investigating how urban design affects temperatures across the city, standing before Picasso's Guernica at the Reina Sofía, and walking through the rich history of Segovia.

One of the strengths of Upper School is the opportunity to connect ideas across disciplines and encounter learning firsthand. When science, history, art and lived experience come together, young people develop a wider perspective on the world and their place within it.

Greetings from Spain, where the adventure continues. 🇪🇸

Travel in the Upper School is not simply about seeing new places. It's about meeting the world.

Today brought conversations with students from our partner school, an afternoon at the Museo Thyssen, and an evening spent together watching the sun set over Madrid.

Experiences like these ask young people to step beyond the familiar, encounter different perspectives, and deepen their understanding of the world and their place within in.

Greetings from Madrid where Class Ty Tan are having an unforgettable week. 🇪🇸
