A successful renovation isn’t just about having a good plan, a realistic budget or choosing the right materials.

It’s about having the right PEOPLE around you.

Over the years, I’ve learned just how important it is to build a reliable power team — good tradespeople, builders, suppliers and professionals who know what they’re doing and, just as importantly, work well together.

When problems appear (and they always do!), you need people around you who look for solutions rather than excuses.

A good power team can help you:

🔨 Keep the project moving
💷 Control costs
⏱️ Avoid unnecessary delays
🧠 Solve problems quickly
🏠 Achieve a much better finish

You can have the best renovation plans in the world, but without the right people to deliver them, they’re just plans.

Build your team carefully. Look after good people. And take them with you from project to project.

That can make a HUGE difference to your renovations.

We knew this dormer would be big… but seeing it built is something else! 😳

One of the biggest advantages of adding a dormer to a bungalow is just how much usable space it can create.

Instead of simply adding a little extra headroom, a well-designed dormer can completely transform the first floor — creating space for larger bedrooms, bathrooms and a much more practical layout.

But getting to this stage takes plenty of planning.

The size, structure, roof design, windows, insulation and internal layout all need to be considered before you start building.

On our bungalow renovation, seeing the dormer finally take shape really shows just how much this property is going to change.

And we’re only getting started… 👀

Follow the renovation to see how we turn this bungalow into a completely different home.

The weather completely changed our renovation plans… and somehow ended up saving us thousands. 🌧️🏠💰

Because the weather has been so lovely it has saved us a small fortune because….

1. Physiology we’re all pumped up and rainy to go. We’re feel more energetic and best of all enjoying the hard work far more than working in the cold or rain

2. We’re able to work inside and outside making us more productive and having more to do

3. The renovation project is coming along much quicker than it would if it was raining which in the long run helps to keep costs down

4. We’re not wasting or losing money on because the weather has slowed us down or having to pay more to extend the hire for equipment.

5. There’s little or no extra labour costs for cleaning up or having to construct temporary covers and shelters to protect us from the weather

We just love it when the weather is on our side.

What do you find helps and motivates you during your renovation project ?

See you on day six 🙏

Replacing your roof ? Don’t fall into this expensive scaffolding trap 🪤

If you’re planning to have extensive renovation work done to your roof, it’s likely you’ll need to erect Scafffolding.

Scaffolding isn’t cheap to hire, so you should carefully plan to have the work carried out as quickly as possible.

Because what if it rains?

Not only can the weather delay your project, rain could end up leaking into your property and cause extensive damage.

One option is to pay to have a canopy installed over your home, so regardless of the weather, it won’t hold up the work and you can work underneath come rain or shine ✨

The down side is, it can be very expensive to have a canopy erected.

Knowing what the long term weather forecast is, can help you plan and decide what to do.

There is of course a cheaper alternative, install a tarpaulin over the opened areas of the roof.

However, be prepared for some rain entering your property, since using a tarpaulin doesn’t guarantee to prevent rain from dripping in or strong winds blowing it off.

Ideally, you’ll need to way up the pros and cons and decide what is going to be the most cost effective way to get your roofing project done, on time, efficiently and with minimum damage.
