Tagalog is an official language of the Philippines where it is spoken alongside around 182 other languages 😍

Tagá- means 'native of' and ilog means 'river'. Together they create Tagalog 'native of the river' 🌏

The Baybayin (meaning 'to write/spell') writing system was native to Tagalog until Spanish colonisation in the 16th century obliged the use of the Latin alphabet ✍️
