We were delighted to be awarded a One Planet Award for "Eco Committee of the Year" for our work on the "Eco Code Rap". Our Eco Club Lead, Mrs May was also presented with a hamper donated by Siop Sero in recognition of her hard work as Eco Club Lead. We would like to thank Joe Jones and Sion Rockley from One Planet Cardiff for organising a fantastic event. Thank you also to the STEM Ambassadors from University of South Wales and Luke McHugh from the Curriculum Team for engaging workshops on hydrogen cars and AI & waste.

INCIDENTAL WELSH

We’re excited to continue promoting the use of incidental Welsh across our school community! Every fortnight, we introduce a new Welsh phrase to encourage both pupils and staff to use the language in everyday conversations.

🗣️ This fortnight’s phrase:
“Beth sy’ nesa?” = “What’s next?”
Let’s all get involved and enjoy using Welsh together.
Beth sy’ nesa?
Give it a go today!

WORLD DAY AGAINST CHILD LABOUR
Our Rights Respecting Steering Group led a week of assemblies last week to raise awareness of World Day Against Child Labour. They taught pupils that although children should have a right to education (article 28), many children around the world do not enjoy this right and have to work instead. Alongside this, children must be protected from harmful work (article 32), but unfortunately many are not. The week of assemblies made us all think and really appreciate the rights we freely enjoy every day.

SIARAD CYMRAEG

Last week we held a successful Siarad Cymraeg competition to encourage more Welsh around school—and the results were fantastic! 🎉

Llongyfarchiadau / Congratulations to our winners:

Yr 7 overall winner: Muhammad Lodhi

Yr 8 overall winner: Riley Russell

Yr 9 overall winner: Carlota Ribeiro Fernandes

Yr 10 overall winner: Issa Moussa

We’re committed to increasing the use of incidental Welsh across the school. Our Phrase of the Fortnight is a great way for pupils and staff alike to start simple conversations yn Gymraeg. Siaradwch yn Gymraeg! Let’s keep talking!
