We know that returning to school after the summer holidays can bring a mixture of feelings. For some of our children, the thought of coming back can feel particularly daunting, so we would like to offer an opportunity to make that first step back a little easier. 😀
On Friday 28th August, from 9:00am–12:00pm, we are opening school especially for children who may benefit from a calm and gentle return before the new school year begins.
The school will be quiet, with just our team here, giving pupils a chance to see some familiar faces and say hello, have a look around and see what's changed, and ask lots of questions.
Refreshments will be available and a pre-loved uniform sale will be taking place between 10 - 11am.

🌊☀️ Kings Monkton School Summer Camp at Cardiff International White Water ☀️🌊
What an incredible week of outdoor adventure, teamwork and fun at Cardiff International White Water!
Our pupils embraced every challenge and made memories to last a lifetime:
🛶 Day 1: Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) and Kayaking
🏞️ Day 2: Gorge Walking
🏄 Day 3: Surfing and Climbing
🚣 Day 4: Raft Building and White Water Rafting
🌊 Day 5: Hot Do***ng and Tubing
Throughout the week, pupils developed confidence, resilience and teamwork skills while enjoying a wide range of exciting activities. From navigating rapids and riding the waves to building rafts and exploring the outdoors, every day brought new challenges and opportunities for growth.
The smiles, laughter and enthusiasm shown by everyone made this a truly unforgettable summer camp experience. We are incredibly proud of all the pupils for their positive attitude, willingness to try new things and support one another throughout the week.
A huge thank you to the team at Cardiff International White Water for providing such an exciting and memorable experience.

Yesterday was results day for our A-level pupils and what a day it was! The hard work of our amazing pupils was recognised with fantastic results, and now new adventures start for many of them. We wish them all the best for their futures and look forward to them returning to visit us as our alumni class of 2026 ⭐

What do Kings Monkton students get up to over the summer?

This morning, Valerio collected his AS results and at just 15, he’s picked up a straight flush. He got A grades across Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus an A* in his Extended Project.

Valerio spent this summer on tour in Spain with the National Youth Guitar Ensemble, performing in Granada and Málaga, whilst also preparing for his next piano exam. That follows a year in which he aged out of the National Children’s Orchestra, playing his final concert as a cellist with the main orchestra last November.

He also launched Musical Peers, his own project taking live music into schools across Cardiff to encourage younger children to pick up an instrument. The first concert was at Grangetown Primary School.

Alongside all of this, Valerio serves as a Rights Respecting Ambassador for Kings Monkton School. He has represented Kings Monkton at Model United Nations, and in various events and competitions.

He wants to be a nuclear engineer. With a full year of A2 study and a set of big decisions ahead of him, we think he’s rather well placed.
