What does it really take to get a job after university?
Holly speaks with Cardiff Met MSc Project Management graduate Fardous about building a career in the UK after moving from Saudi Arabia.
He shares how he made the switch from civil engineering to project management and what he learned from applying for around 80 jobs.
Fardous talks about improving his interview skills, building his CV through volunteering and internships, and gaining professional certifications. He also shares how Cardiff Met's Careers Service helped him prepare for interviews and how he progressed from Project Support Officer to Project Manager at the University.

Holly speaks with Cardiff Met Biomedical Science graduate Jemima about finding her career after missing out on her original plan to become a dentist.
She got onto Biomedical Science through Clearing and says it was one of the best decisions she made.
Jemima now works as a Senior Biomedical Scientist at the Welsh Blood Service. She talks about working in the NHS, finding her feet after graduation, and the twists and turns that led to her current role.

Am wythnos! What a week at the Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru! 🎶
We loved being part of the Carreg Las celebrations in Pembrokeshire, bringing Cardiff Met to the Maes and sharing the talent, creativity and expertise of our University with visitors from across Wales and beyond.
Throughout the week, our student singers and our staff ukulele crew brought a touch of musical magic to the Maes.
The ‘Row from the Maes to Llandaff Campus’ challenge also proved a hit, with visitors completing the 92 mile virtual journey on a rowing machine.
Our workshops gave everyone the chance to get to know our different Schools, explore what they do and discover some of the exciting work happening across Cardiff Met.
A huge shout-out to Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol Cangen Met Caerdydd for spreading the Cardiff Met word across the Maes through their Instagram content featuring our student ambassadors.
Diolch o galon to everyone for making our Eisteddfod presence such a success. 🎯

Team Wales heroes, including our very own students, alumni and staff, were given a warm welcome home yesterday at a special event to honour and celebrate the nation’s success at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
First Minister, Rhun ap Iorwerth, played a key role at the homecoming and summed things up pretty well: "Team Wales has once again shown the world what our nation is capable of. Success at these Games cannot be measured in medals alone. Every athlete who achieved a personal best, competed for the first time on the international stage, or overcame setbacks to represent Wales, has done our country proud."
Those words perfectly reflect the achievements of our Cardiff Met community. From current students and staff to alumni, our athletes - alongside coaches and performance support staff - played an important role in Team Wales' success, showcasing the talent, dedication and resilience at the heart of sport at Cardiff Met.
The University's final medal tally included gold for Aled Siôn Davies, silver for Funmi Oduwaiye, and bronze for Rosie Eccles and Jack Knight - four of the 31 medals won by Wales at the Games.
Congratulations to everyone who represented Wales. We couldn't be prouder of our Cardiff Met community. 🏹
