‘Give it a Go’ is full calendar of amazing activities for you to try while you are a student at Cardiff. It gives you the opportunity to try out all the things or societies get up to, get involved in sports, learn a new language, develop vital skills, volunteer, go on day and weekend trips and so much more. The aim of the game is to get you to try things you’ve never tried before, meet new people and basically have an absolutely amazing time in Cardiff. You don’t need membership and you don’t need to commit to anything after the session. All you do is sign up online, pay the fee (if there is one), then rock up on the day and ‘Give it a Go’ – see what we did there? So just to confirm - all the activities are pay as you go and you must sign up here before. The all that’s left is for you to turn up at the right time and the right place and then you can say . If you’re a student sports club, society, university department or an external organisation ‘Give it a Go’ presents an amazing opportunity for you to gain exposure to 28,000 students, generate potential income and recruit new members. 🌍 Your first weekend in Cardiff? The perfect time to start exploring 📸

You don’t need to travel far to discover somewhere new. In fact, we start with trips right on Cardiff’s doorstep.

Here's the four different ways to spend your first weekend:

🏡 St Fagans - A unique open-air village made up of historic buildings from across Wales. Why not take a picnic to share with friends in their gardens?

🌊 Barry Island - An afternoon at the seaside! It’ll be 21 degrees and sunny – who said summer is over?!

🥾 Pen y Fan - get out into the Bannau Brycheiniog / Brecon Beacons national park and take on the highest mountain in South Wales. A must do for any Cardiff student!

🛋️ IKEA - get those new-room essentials sorted and make a trip of it with your new housemates. Plus, who doesn’t love meatballs?!

These trips are a great chance to get to know your new housemates, coursemates and other students while you’re exploring somewhere together. Got evening plans? You'll be back in plenty of time 🚍

We’re looking for passionate, outgoing & reliable students for volunteer opportunities on the Give it a Go 2026/27 team 🚌 Two roles are available: Trip Leaders and Content Creators 🙋📸

🗺️ TRIP LEADERS

Love travelling, meeting people and keeping things running smoothly?

As a Trip Leader, you’ll help lead our trips across the UK, making sure students know where they need to be, answering questions and making sure everything goes to plan.

You’ll get:
✨ Experience leading groups
🤝 The chance to meet students from all over the world
🚌 Free places on Give it a Go day trips
🩹 First Aid training
🥪 Lunch expenses on trips

Our Content Creators help bring Give it a Go to life online - capturing photos and videos on trips and creating content for our social media.

You’ll get the chance to:
📸 Build your photography & video portfolio
🎬 Create content in real-world settings
📱 Develop your social media skills
🚌 Get free places on Give it a Go day trips
🥪 Lunch expenses on trips

For either role, you’ll need to be able to commit to at least 3 trips per semester. No previous experience is needed and all training will be provided. Both roles are voluntary with lots of opportunities to gain experience, meet people and see more of the UK along the way 🌍

Huge congratulations to everyone receiving their A-Level results today! 👏🎉

And a special WELCOME to everyone who’s secured their place at Cardiff University! 🥳 You've worked really hard to get here and we're sure you're going to love it 🫶

But alongside your lectures and classes, there's so much to experience! 👀

We run trips across the UK, visiting amazing cities and countryside each weekend - and when term's over, we'll take you on overnight trips too 🚌

Plus, we've got over 150 events from craft evenings, sporty taster sessions, film tours, caving trips... And we're adding more each day! 🤯

Recently we took a moment to celebrate our fantastic trip leaders 👏

They’ve travelled across the country, taking you everywhere from the Jurassic Coast in the South, right up to Edinburgh in the North and many, many places in between! 🌊🍃 🏰

From sharing local knowledge, helping new students or making sure all the logistics run smoothly, it’s their enthusiasm, commitment and positivity that have been at the heart of Give it a Go this year 💚✨

To all of our trip leaders – thank you for your hard work, energy and dedication throughout the year. We couldn't do it without you 🫶
