French Without Tears

A lovely last lesson of the school year! We learned about Bastille Day and revisited one of our favourite topics - the zoo! We also read, translated and discussed a lovely article from a teen learner’s magazine! Great work all round!
It is the end of an era for some of our linguists as they move on to high school in September! I have thoroughly enjoyed our lessons together and I look forward to hearing how you’re getting in your new school!
Congratulations to our ‘linguists of the year’ who received little trophies for their amazing work!

Our young linguists have been fantastic this term! The Pentyrch Primary children have continued to study different topics and read and discuss French magazine articles! It’s great to see their progress!
Our private tuition students have also had a great term, covering areas for exams or simply learning conversational French! Well done all!

What a great half term our Pentyrch linguists have had! It’s great to see them progressing so well! As well as practicing how to describe ourselves and our pets, and covering topics such as clothes and the weather, we’ve also learned some grammar (I squeezed it into some of our topics so that they hardly noticed!), in preparation for high school!
We have also been reading French children’s magazine articles every week and discussing them! This has worked brilliantly and we’ve all learned a lot about what it’s like to grow up in France today!

Lovely Christmas lessons with our Pentyrch linguists this week! We really enjoyed comparing Christmas in France with Christmas in the UK! We all agreed that we we'd be very happy to eat the French chocolate dessert, but we weren't so sure about the oysters!
I hope that all our young linguists have a fantastic Christmas, and I look forward to hearing what Le Père Noël brings!

I’m very much looking forward to our Christmas lessons this week! We’ll be learning lots of Christmas words and phrases, but this year we’ll
also be looking at 24 hours in the life of a young girl who lives in Paris, from Christmas Eve through to Christmas Day! 🇫🇷 🎄 🇫🇷

A lovely first week back with our Pentyrch linguists! We finished our work on the seasons and then read and discussed a magazine article about Christmas films! The children did really well understanding the article and using phrases such as ‘J’adore’, ‘J’aime’ and ‘Je n’aime pas’, to express their own opinions!
It was interesting to see how some titles are translated into French, for example ‘Home Alone’, is translated as ‘Maman, j’ai raté l’avion’!

Our Pentyrch linguists have been fantastic this half term! We’ve been continuing to learn the language in the same way as before, but this half term, I’ve also introduced some special children’s magazine articles to read and discuss! They have done brilliantly with the articles - improving their pronunciation by reading, improving understanding by translating and developing their sentences by discussing the content and their own views! Très bien! Have a lovely half term break and I look forward to seeing you in November! 🇫🇷 🇫🇷

A lovely first week back with our Pentyrch linguists! We have been examining and discussing real French school dinner menus this week! We’ve used this as an opportunity to review the days of the week and to learn more about different foods and how to discuss them! Very interesting to see the differences between the French menus and what we have here! Great work from everyone! 🇫🇷 🇫🇷 🇫🇷

I hope everyone has a had a lovely summer holiday! I'm looking forward to lessons restarting! I've got lots of exciting topics planned!!
We didn't make it to France to see the sunflowers this summer, but we did visit some beautiful sunflower fields in Wales, where we came across some blue cornflowers which are the French symbol of remembrance!
