Wales Puja Committee is a charitable organisation located in South Wales in the United Kingdom. Registered UK charity 1050138 History. from the shore.

In 1973 a few like-minded Bengalis in South Wales arranged Saraswati Puja in the house of a Doctor in Nelson, Mid Glamorgan. This was probably the first recorded Sarbajanin Puja in Wales. A few Indian families, mostly doctors who were working in the south east of Wales, attended it. There, amongst other things the idea of doing Durga Puja later in the year was seeded and 3 doctors and their famili

Poila Baisakh celebrations this year by Wales Puja Committee - had the usual homely environment with children and adults performing, some lovely adda, delicious food and a bunch of feel good moments and memories to take home and look back fondly.

Jyoti Prokash has been a very welcome addition to the list of regular performers in our events in the past two years bringing in his melodious and impressive singing accompanied by his inseparable guitar. On the Poila Baisakh this year, Jyoti Prokash or fondly called 'JP' once again didn't disappoint the audience.

An interesting part of the cultural programme from WPC in the recent times has been the addition of audio play/ 'Shruti Natok'. The subjects of the audio plays have ranged from comedy to social issues and on this year's Poila Baisakh, it was one with a little touch of horror.
