Today we said goodbye to our year 11.

What a bright and brilliant send off for a lovely year group.

We wish you all nothing but the best in the future.

Last half term, we were incredibly lucky to welcome poet Connor Allen to Cardiff West! Originally from Newport, Connor now shares his time between the UK and Malaysia, and was proudly the Children’s Laureate Wales (2021–23).

Connor worked with all of our Year 7 pupils, delivering powerful reading and writing workshops inspired by his poetry book Miracles. Every pupil left not only feeling inspired, but also with their very own copy of the book – and the confidence to create and perform their own poetry.

His visit reminded us just how powerful words can be – to express, to connect, and to inspire!

Who knows… we may have the next great poet right here at Cardiff West!

NEW LIBRARY AT CARDIFF WEST! 

We are incredibly excited to officially open the doors to our brand new school library – and it looks AMAZING! 🤩 From cosy reading corners to shelves packed with brilliant books, this is a space designed for everyone to enjoy, explore and get lost in a good story! A huge thank you to GE Aerospace for their support in helping bring this fantastic space to life – we really appreciate it! 

And the best part?
Our library will be open every lunchtime for Library Club!  Come along to read, relax, revise and get lost in the world of stories! Your next favourite book is waiting…

More great news - Some of our year 8 pupils have reached the national finals of the 'Year 8 Problem Solving Challenge' - Huge Congratulations, we are very proud of you all.

Huge congratulations to our Family Engagement Officer, Mrs Soraya Kelly, who has been awared in the King's Birthday Honours List.

A great opportunity for Year 8 to go on an educational visit to Cardiff University, earlier this week.

An update from our Headteacher regarding Arbor.

A little look into the work with our partnership with Seren Network yesterday, where selected pupils were invited to listen to some opportunities available to them through the partnership.

For those who will be joining us in September, we have a transition evening from 2:30pm and 4pm today. We look forward to seeing you.
