📣 🐛 Family fun at Chapter this half-term! 🐛📣

On Wednesday 29 May and Saturday 1 June, we’re bringing back our ever-popular free family films at 12 midday.

Join us for A Monster Calls, which follows young boy Conor who conjures a tree-like monster to help process his feelings. Please note this film is targeted at a slightly older audience and is a 12A.

Full of music and flare, Sing returns at the weekend to follow the animated animals' battle to win the biggest singing competition in the world!

To satisfy little tummies, our free packed lunches are available Monday to Friday during the holiday and are offered to all children under 18. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options are available. Grab a bag from our caffi bar!

On 27-29 May, 10am-1.30pm, Joon Dance bring you Half Term Hoppers, their three-day programme for budding dancers. Suitable for 11–15-year-olds of all levels of experience, this is an opportunity to develop creative movement skills in a supported environment! You can book a single day session for £20 or £50 for all sessions. A few free spaces are available for those for whom the cost is prohibitive.

Today and every weekday during the Easter holidays we're providing free meals for children. The packed lunches are available to collect from 12-2pm in our caffi bar where you'll be met by our friendly volunteers who’ll be there to help out.

Cardiff Music School student Maria (aged 10) took part in the Instrumental Ensemble competition at the National Eisteddfod this week, performing a piano duet of film music with her teacher Gwenno Glyn. We're delighted that she won - llongyfarchiadau Maria!

From tomorrow our half-term fun begins! 🎶

We have a whole week of free family films, free drop in art & craft workshops and free packed lunches for all children under 18.

Tomorrow's film is Encanto Singalong at 11:30am, and our art & craft workshop will be held in the Common Room between 10am and 12pm,. The Common Room is found on the first floor and is accessible by the stairs or lift🎨

Free packed lunches for under 18s available in the Cinema Foyer 12-2pm.

Advanced Guitar Course

Our flagship advanced guitar course sees participants work with the full range of our concert artists and resident tutors. With masterclasses and/or workshops with every performer, one-to-one lessons, ensemble playing, networking opportunities and even a session on careers for musicians it is sure to be an inspiring event.

This course is suitable for guitar students aged 11 and above. Across the three days, students will participate in guitar ensembles, a number of workshops and guitar solos, finishing with a showcase concert for parents.

This course is suitable for guitar students aged 7 and over. During the three-day course, students will participate in guitar ensembles and rhythm exercises, as well as classes on succeeding in graded exams.

Daniel Martinez Flamenco Company at Cardiff Guitar Festival
In Concert: Saturday 30th July 2022 - 7pm St Johns - St Johns Crescent, Canton CF5 1NX

Cordoba born Flamenco Guitarist and Composer Daniel Martinez started his flamenco guitar studies at the age of 7 in the Royal Conservatoire of Music of Cordoba in Spain.

In 2015, having worked in many of Cordoba’s tablaos and flamenco festivals, he completed his 14 years of study and moved to the UK after being headhunted to perform in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. As well as a freelance musician, Daniel founded his own company in 2017, the Daniel Martinez Flamenco Company, and debuted his first production Art of Believing, which has gone on to receive exceptional press and audience reviews, win awards and grace the stages of many theatres, guitar and arts festivals across the country.

Alexandra Whittingham at Cardiff Guitar Festival

In May 2021 Alexandra released her debut studio album My European Journey, which explores the guitar’s great coming of age in nineteenth-century Europe. The album reached No.1 on the iTunes Classical Chart as well as taking first place on The Presto Chart solely through pre-orders before its release.

Maintaining an active online presence, Alexandra has gained over 200,000 subscribers on YouTube during the last five years, where videos of her performances have collectively surpassed 30 million views.
